I think that's what they mean, though. It's "easy to fake" in that -- just scream in a vaguely deep-ish, raspy voice and people who know nothing will think it's legit. The average layman has a vague preconception of what screaming sounds like ("oh, a gravely voice screaming about death - that checks out"), but most people don't have the knowledge of what a technically proficient pro SHOULD sound like. For someone familiar with screaming, it's easier to point out a blatant faker from an honest learner from a real pro, because it takes skill to project in a way that sounds stable and is safe for your voice. For people who aren't often exposed to music with screaming, they don't know what to look for in terms of "good technique/questionable/red flag." It's like faking being a pro violinist. The learning curve to start playing is so steep that even just decent playing can fool your average listener into thinking "you could be a pro!" Playing some random rhythm and claiming it's "Fiddling" (or "Jazz") can get a pass. A layman wouldn't know better, but anyone who practices violin can spot the technical messiness that a pro would never have. There are loads of good amateur violinists out there, but your average joe wouldn't be able to tell you who's a pro and who's a hobbyist-- they don't have a lot of exposure, so they don't know what tells to look for. That's what makes the violin (or screaming) "easy to fake" -- but you definitely wouldn't call playing the violin (or screaming) easy!
