Yes. Not long after this Brother Jesse had to distance himself from the Minister for his "Gutter Religion" remark. Jackson didn't help himself four years later by referring to NY as "Hymietown".

This all happened around 1984, the Hymietown remark was 1984 as well. The controversies were the Hymietown remark, Minton Coleman and the so-called "gutter religious", which was said to be "dirty religion" referring to the oppression of the Palestinians.
