I'm glad I watched this .. AFTER I purchased (ordered) the Terrova. I got the 54" x 55hp without the pedal. It comes with the GPS receiver and the I-Pilot handheld controller. I had watched so many videos that I actually got confused but I'm glad I went with the Terrova now that I've seen this video. Thanks.

Love this trolling motor!!! Has more power than I expected. Hit a few tree limbs in the water and didn’t even put a scratch on it. Seems like it’s built very well

I was at the MinnKota shop in Bloomington MN yesterday to have the circuit board replaced on my old PowerDrive foot pedal. I asked the tech about retrofitting it for iPilot vs getting a V2 PowerDrive w/iPilot or Terrova. He said that I should definitely get the Terrova if I wanted iPilot. He also said that if I waited for the supply to catch up with the demand I might be able to get one for a better price. Thanks for the video!

For once I apparently made the right choice! Bought a Terrova and, after watching your video and a couple others--all of which came to the same conclusion--I can only hope other prospective buyers watch yours before deciding which TM to buy. Everything you pointed out was spot on. HOWEVER, after researching both extensively, the one factor that boat owners should be aware of is the difference in WEIGHT. THE TERROVA TIPS THE SCALES AT 65LBS, THE POWERDRIVE AT 30LBS. That might make a meaningful difference to folks with smaller boats or, as in my case, older boats with a narrow beam.

The biggest reason I went with the Terrova is the fact that you lose the footpedal if you go to the iPilot on the Powerdrive. I did not want to switch to a remote only option. Thanks for sharing the other differences.

here in canada. the power drive with ipilot is 1500$ cad and the terrova is 2000$ cad.. so powerdrive it is I guess

Too late already bought the power drive, wish i had seen this sooner but that's life.

The power button on my boat was a big deal. I have my foot pedal way in the front in case I need it. I have a Panther Kingpin pole anchor system. I have one in the front and one in the back. If I bump the foot pedal, it will significantly bend my pole if I some how start the trolling motor. I guess I could also set the prop speed to 0 as well. However, having that on/off switch for me is huge. Just my 2 cents.

Those chickadees make me long for early spings! Very nice vid. Have the power drive. Agree on the powerdrives deploymemt, but I got it for less than 100 bucks second hand so no complaints.

It's a out dated video, the deployment has changed and built in GPS updated on power drive models. There are 3 now as of 2024.

The only thing with the Terrova is you still can have wrap around when doing follow the contour and then you do a reverse navigation or you make a really sharp U turn. Circle mode will also cause wrap around. The Ultrex won't wrap. I also heard the Ulterra which is only $150 more than the Terrova also will not wrap. It remembers your trim and I guess using the same principle it also remembers how many times it has turned.

Do you think the Terrova is any quieter than the power drive when the steering motor is in use? I bought an older power drive model this spring and whenever the steering motor is running it seems like it's very loud I think. Thanks.

Does the 2012 model Terrova have spot lock on the pedal just to sit in one spot without being linked and can I raise or lower the depth of the motor in the water

Dude thanks so much for making this video. Can you tell me where you found the 2 different motors so similarly priced? I am seeing about a $300 difference between the 2 models both in 55lb 12volt. If that were the price difference would you still go terrova?

Have you ever had a problem with it locking into place when you deploy it?.. I just installed mine and it won't lock I didn't mount it on a quick disconnect mount I don't know if that makes a difference
