1:12 it's because unlike bollywood most of Malayalam films don't have alot of music videos and glorification of heros...they r shown as normal people who u can connect nd r very convincing 😅😅 This movie is less than 1/4th the budget of any superhero movie ever made.... Thalumala would be good next movie. But be carefull,its not very easy to follow as it's a non linear story telling. But the movie gives you anxiety and suspense on when things will go out of control. You guys will love the cinematography and visuals

In an interview Basil Joseph said that the timeline itself is fantasized . Which means that movie is set in a timeline which does not exist (where different technologies from later years exist but some of those of past years don’t exist if it makes sense)

We are completely aligned here. I have rewatched this movie at least 10 times and I still enjoy it without needing to skip much. That main actor is very popular and an amazing actor. Malayalam movies have smaller budgets and a dedicated audience so I think they take more risks with the types of scripts, music, cutting out the general Indian movie fluff.

Foreigners beginning to sample malayalum movies remain addicted to it because of its high quality content driven details. If current releases of malayalam movies are impressive then I have news for you. These movies are not half as good as malayalam classics released between mid 80s and late late 90s. Eventually new comers get sucked into the 80s and 90s malayalam movies and relive those timeless classics - the golden era of malayalam movies. They are far far superior to the movies released in 2020s

In Tamil it is named as Kollywood because Kodambakam (Kodambakam is the place were movies were made) + Hollywood=Kollywood In Telugu it is named as Tollywood because Telugu + Hollywood= Tollywood In Kannada the place is known for Chandana(sandal), they named it as Sandalwood In Malayalam the language name Malayalam + Hollywood = Mollywood Bollywood : Bombay + Hollywood

So with malayalam films you might feel the length a bit because the makers spend a good amount of time setting the context. I am a non Malayali and discovered Malayalam films in the pandemic. Trust me it's a rabbit hole that you would be glad that you fell into. The Industry is producing some of the most versatile films in our country.

I don't know if anyone has recommended Maaveeran yet but it's a recent superhero Tamil movie. One of my recent favorites. If you loved Minnal Murali, you'll love that one too. It's got a great script, technically great and also performances. Definitely watch it too!!

We sure did.. fanfights too for the Big Ms.. Mohanlal and Mammootty. Although not much prevelant these days, the Malayalam movie industry also have toxic traits like that. But luckily it's not the majority of the audience, and it's only for those two. It would be a problem if people actually treat these movie stars like everything they shit is gold and doesn't make them stay up to standards by letting them have a pass for bad movies or terrible behaviour in general.. like for actors like Balayya in those industries. I donno man.. know the audience. Although they appreciate good art, Manichithrathazhu is very slow and filled with niche cultural practices, mythos and references. They had a drastic culture shock watching Padmaavat. Manichithrathazhu has dragged for many foreigners who watched it but wasn't familiar with the culture, even though many sees the performance merits. This was just to brief them if they're reading. It's always great to try something one doesn't understand first..but gradually understands and appreciate. So maybe you're right
