She was a precious flower; a songbird whose voice was pure sunshine on the most beautiful day. Every song she sung, you felt the joy of her spirit shining through her voice. With a five-and-a-half-octave vocal range and a unique ability to reach the highest register of the human voice with the ease of bird taking to flight, Minnie Riperton proved to be in a league of her own. To date, no one has managed to hit those insane notes like she did.

I don't know much about her, but the whole point of being blessed and graced with specifics, isn't for recognition. There is a reason why most will aim to deprive something like recognition l, while ignoring someone for ***who *they are. As depriving someone from/from getting attention is a psychological antic that manipulators will use to mentally bind those that buy into that and want things like that. It's like beyond obvious, that a negative outcome is needed, which is why folk do it. When you have a solid connection to Life ***and the Life that it has extended to you. Your reverence for your existence, doesn't lie in folk and the silly behaviors that they copy and paste for similar results. As it's equivalent to being stuck in a mental cycle based on seeking bottom basement approval/s that lack real substance and drive. As the whole point of living and having Life is to possess and encounter people and things of substance. I'm gonna hope that she didn't allow such pettiness and simpleton behavior to dampen her spirit.

@alexandradillard2077 I am! Thank you for that. I was diagnosed at my first mammogram (age 40). I had to have a unilateral mastectomy. My cancer was hormone receptive and had no genetic precursors. It's so scary. The fact that she didn't crumble and instead spoke out shows the kind of strength Minnie had. ❤

@@Chickentender77922 I get it! I had a scare a couple of years ago when I detected what felt like a lump in my armpit. Before I go on, it is very important to know how to feel for any lumps for possible cancer. Needless to say, when I went to the doctor for a mammogram it was just a clump. But it’s also important to get regular mammograms for early detection. I’m glad you’re doing well 😊!

Over here making jokes about people that are more talented than you...... Minnie remains a Top 5 lock on my list of all-time favorite American female vocalists (other 4 being Phyllis Hyman, Lizz Wright, Teena Marie, and Judith Hill). I agree that she really didn't receive her flowers when she was still here on this earth. Her groundbreaking solo debut album ('Come To My Garden') should've made her an INSTANT household name back then, while her songwriting contributions with then-husband Richard Rudolph firmly made her a force to be reckoned with from an artistic standpoint. Her tragic passing due to breast cancer was made even more painful on account that she still had SO MUCH MORE to offer the music community at the time, but had that opportunity taken away from her so unexpectedly. At least her daughter Maya (Rudolph) was able to make a name for herself as a well-respected actress/comedienne. Today, the one artist that DOES remind me of Minnie the most (at least in spirit) is Esperanza Spalding and I'm glad she hasn't let the industry steer her "off course", either! 😌👏

I had the privilege of seeingMinnie live in concert with Stevie Wonder when I was 15 years old. This was after Adventures in Paradise, which was my favorite album by her, was released. She put on fantastic show. The funny part is that I had no idea that she was appearing with Stevie until she came on stage and my older sister started hollering “go on Minnie! Go on sister!”😄😄! Okay. This may not be funny but I just wanted to share a memory 😉! Her intro was memorable because she came on with Reasons, and she tore into that song. The year she died, she was scheduled to perform at the now defunct Circle Star Theater in San Carlos, CA. My sister, some friends and I were going to see her, but…. I downloaded all of her music on my Apple Music app.

Minnie BELIEVED in herself & knew she had a lot to share with the world. Its interesting 🤔 how she kept it moving, & wouldn't take "no" for an answer -- but moving as if she didn't have alot of time. That's what's interesting, how people are intuitive ( even before her cancer diagnosis) that she HAD to become a star. Which she did, NO ONE can compare, take her crown, come close maybe -- but Still, not good enough. Rest in peace Minnie Julia Riperton may you find the happiness you deserve in your after life. You were the " Perfect Angel", angelic voice while here & you defided the odds by 3 yrs, i believe because you gave of yourself with love to others through speaking about cancer even though you had your own heart breaking situation. GOD Bless you Minnie, you were & STILL are appreciated & Loved. ❤️‍🔥🌹🕊️🙏💞💔🎶🎶🙏🙏👍🥰

It was definitely inuendo - suggestive of something not so innocent. That was the 70's and how it was done - things were hidden in plain sight. A child could pick the album up and see a lady with an ice cream cone - an adult sees something different. I wish music was like that today; most everything is vulgar and trashy.

Keep your eyes and ears peeled in the coming year or so. I ran into a gentleman at a local (xerox) copy store who's putting together the final bits and pieces of a writing project. Somebody is getting ready to drop a book on what happened to Minnie, Marley, and I also believe at least one other songstress that died way too young and under very mysterious circumstances. The person that I ran into literally said to me "I'm getting ready to put a book out" He then weng on to say, "I don't understand how come nobody is speaking of Clive's involvement in all of this". Then, when I looked up at him he didn't say anything more and he walked out of the copy store.

I too was 5 and I remember the media saying she had cancer and Don Cornelius did a dedication to her on the show Soul Train 🚂 / and our whole house was sad that day / I still play her CD in the kitchen especially on rainbow and rainy days ( " Give Me Time " ) is my favorite rainy day song when im cooking listening to Stevie on the harmonica and watching the rain 🌧️... Goes All the way back to the 1970...miss you so much Ms.Minnie 🥺
