Minuet 1, Suzuki Book 1 - performance tempo!

Watch Minuet 1 with precise bow division and "beginners technique", i.e. without vibrato and other more advanced techniques, so you can focus on the basics!
If you dont have strips on your own bow, it can be helpful to put some on, or use chalk to divide the bow into four even parts so that you can copy a precise bow distribution:-)

A video like this can be very helpful, but remember that it can never replace your teacher. Please always follow your teachers advice, as even within the Suzuki program, the teachers playing and instruction can vary slightly from one another and this should by no means confuse you! Always confirm with your teacher as he/she knows how to help you best!

This reminds me of when I went for lessons at a well known “teaching center” as a “violin beginner” … I played this after my weekly lesson and my teacher was beside herself. I even included a really shaky vibrato which had her flabbergasted nevertheless. It was that moment I had to let her know I was a concert violinist with years of training 😂 🎻

I need to know this because when I am practicing this piece, I need to know the tempo of the song so I can set my metronome to that tempo.

I dont know it by heart, but I use a free app called ProMetronome to tap to any piece and find the tempo, its great! (I am not a sponsor, I just like the app a lot;-) You can also practice along with this piece (and all pieces in books 1-4) in a slow tempo, you can find a video for that in the playlist section!
