LYRICS:
Giants Fall
Forbidden fields
And empty meadows
I wind and wander
To pierce the seal
And loose the shadow
That pulls me under
Places that should not be disturbed
All that I would cast away
(Watching giants fall)
From myself or from another
Drain the spirit of its colour
Bleeding into grey
Crumble to the ground
A titan coming down
Cycle begins
To atone I will bear the crown
Twins of the curse
On the brow pull the future down
Giants heavy hewn
From the grain of eternity
Piercing the wound
To escape from a destiny
What have I become?
All that I would cast away
(Watching giants fall)
From myself or from another
Drain the spirit of its colour
Bleeding into grey
So crumble to the ground
A titan coming down
All that I would cast away
(Watching giants fall)
In a choking fog I smother
(I’m smothering)
Drain the spirit of its colour
Bleeding into grey
Crumble to the ground
A titan coming down

I love how the song progresses like the game. It starts off contemplative and lonely, but quickly becomes desperate and matches with wander becoming more and more corrupted as they try to finish the quest, before eventually everything returns to the quiet and lonely feeling it started at.

There's a certain relentlessness of this song that really matches the game. After several of the verses it becomes obvious from your other songs that it was appealing to lighten the pace. Especially after the line "peircing the wound to escape from destiny". On any other song, following this line would be an "Aaaahhh" that lightens the drums and pace, but this song ignores that trend and relentlessly presses forward. I love it.

Shadow of the Colossus is one of those old(ish) classic games that deserves all the love it gets. Some people roll their eyes at the fact that it's being remastered again, but if it means a new round of people making stuff for it, that should be enough justification. Though I can see the argument that some other classic games should be updated, too...

I played the game for the first time about a week ago and all I can say is I'm glad I didn't buy it and got it as my free PS plus game. I blasted through it in one sitting and that was because I felt no need or desire to explore because the world is so dead so instead I beelined from dead girl to boss rinse and repeat. Then at the end, I got excited because I thought oh shit I kill the beast and become the beast what a twisted fate but nope. I slap some guys, breathe fire and then get sucked into a well which I spent at least 5 mins trying to escape thinking it would have two endings but nope. There isn't enough story here for me to care about dead girl or my character or even why I hafta kill giant monsters. I just stabbed them to death cos the game told me to. It's a very beautiful game and I absolutely love the colossi and they were easily the highlight of the game for me but I didn't have this awe shocked experience like everyone else seems to be having. It feels more like a gamer obligation to call it the greatest game ever.

There's a couple scenes here taken from the intro cutscene but that's in-engine anyway, not prerendered. This remake actually looks that damn good, and is also one of the most respectful remakes I've ever had the pleasure of playing. They cleaned up a lot of the issues the original had while also keeping the visual feel of the game intact, despite the shift in art style.

I know that taste is subjective and all that, but the production value alone is really impressive, the comments are overwhelmingly positive, the themes he chooses are popular and he uploads regularly. When I first heard this song six years ago, it didn't captivate me too much. I loved some of your other offerings more at the time like fires far but this song has over the years enthralled me more and more- Recalling the chorus chanting "All I would cast away, watching giants fall". Like a lullaby of uncertain venture and childlike wonder for me- Knowing the games theme you understand the somber connotations and yet it shines with the gleam of yearning towards something fantastical; Just like the misguided trial the main character embarks upon. I would put this song as one of your better ones, and thus by extension making it one of the best songs I ever heard- Your prowess as a musician is titanic and you inspired a plethora of incredible artist that make up today's nerdcore scene; The artists making music inspired by games, anime and other media. I wish that your dreams come true, just as the hurdles of struggle fall like giants do; Thank you for the mesmerizing piece of music that will accompany me for the rest of my days.

Played this game in the old PS2 format. Fond memories, even watching the new remastered stuff. I don't think any other game's given me quite the same sensation as that first time I galloped out through a field, rounded a corner, and saw the first Colossus turning to face me. I've played through many a boss battle, but Colossus just knew how to make a player feel small compared to their opponents... physically and metaphorically.

uuuhh, i really like how smooth and serene the intro and ending is. youd expect some hard and loud sounds nonstop when you read an epic word like 'Colossus', but what you did with this song was so different and so satisfying *_* well done, added to my playlist

I once finished the PS2 version years ago. It was brilliant. I wish I could afford a PS4 sometime so I can try out his new version.

I really like contrast between this and Place in Nature. Other is triumphant song about hunting great beasts and feeling the thrill of the hunt and victory. Other is about what that kind of hunt would do to a in mental level

Jesus Christ Gav. You managed to take the feeling that this game makes us feel (guilt) and implemented it in this masterpiece like a pro. I played the ps2 version and was amazed by everything. Not a lot surprised me in the ps4 remake but your song puts me back into it. I came close to crying. That, to me, means that you did great.

hey i noticed that hint in the rhythm towards your old fallout "some things never change" song at 0:55, wondering if that was intentional

your vocals at 0:55 sounds like the chorus in your old fallout song "some things never change," was that intentional or an accidental callback?
