As the plane does not actually calculate anything, I would not bother messing with the altimeter at all. I'd rather find my release altitude simply by adding target altitude and release altitude from the table together. You only benefit from the altimeter setup if you use the tape in the HUD since it does not seem to show more than 1,900. 1,500 is pretty much the highest you can use it for because you have to leave a little bit of reaction time once the tape starts rolling. I don't think it's a coincidence that every one of your releases was a little bit late for that reason. You won't be able to zoom in as much if you use the regular altimeter but that's life.

Another excellent video, thank you! Not being on the sim I had no idea of the difficulty level and my respect for you and other pilots doing these sims has certainly increased!

1st time commenter & long time viewer of your videos. Thanks for a quick & dirty video on how to attack ground targets in the F1 Mirage. To be honest apart from the WW2 fighters I have never had the time to figure out the jet fighter weapons & have been happy enough just to experience their realistic flight models (and more often than not their damage models). Due to the long work hours & family commitments buying the new aircraft is not the problem, it is investing my limited time in working out how to use all their weapons, that ends up in me buying the latest aircraft & just being amazed how they perform in vr as opposed to the real life single engine Cessnas (I briefly flew as a commercial pilot before I realised that going back to my original job in oil & gas with a family & mortgage was probably the less exciting but more “sensible” path). Now I have a couple of suggestions for future competitions you could make videos of. 1) On the Channel map there are so many great pubs so my idea is that you all have to complete a pub crawl. After landing in the nearest car park or suitable area beside the pub you each have to consume a "pint of beer" before taking off & landing at the next selected pub & the last person to successfully take off & land at the next establishment intact will be the winner. 2) Lanky pilot 77 has put out some great videos exploring the last few DCS maps in the "Combined arms" Willys jeep. While the physics are not perfect I am thinking of a "Top Gear" type race from one side of one of the Mariannas islands to the other.

Wow, this is a 1970s aircraft and you had to Google to find the air pressure? I didnt even know Google existed back then.

Thanks for doing these tutorials, and thanks for not making them take 45mins. I was wondering if there's a reason why you used the rudder pedals instead of rudder trim? Is it a personal preference or something else?

you should do a battle where there are battle groups rather then then carrier groups with like an iowa class and a kirov class as the center peice and then have like ticonderoga class, arleigh burke class and oliver perry class as like the battle group for america but i dont know what ships russia has but i would just use the ships you use in a carrier group for russia i just think that would be cool

If you are using "unlimited ammunition" it seems to give you an "aircraft damaged" message after you release the ordnance. Couple other channels ran into this issue as well

I've been practicing low level bombing with mk82's at 500ft, 500 knots with around 69 mrads of sight depression. Still in the trial and error phase but maybe give it a try.

Where's the "Do A Thing" bouton? I'm sitting here looking at a typical mbar/wind gust chart for my maritime PNW region and jumps of 40 mbar in 120 minutes in a static location are not entirely uncommon during a typical storm (accompanied by wind gusts of 45-60 mph... very common here). If one set the bari-pressure 50 miles from target, they would likely traverse a 10-20 mbar differential across the storm face. How far off would the aim be if the mbar was set at flight ingress then encounter such a change? (plz forgive my mbar shorthand... can't be arsed to type the entire "millibar" thing out each time. Typical lazy American chair-jockey here). I guess I'm asking if being off by 10-20 mbar would result in being off by 50 feet with a rocket attack in such inclement weather...think "Typical North Sea gale w/out the redeeming value of a decent pub during debrief". Asking for a friend who is organizing Operation Twilight: a GR attack on the Forks Washington Vampire community. complete with Sasquatch-operated, boulder-toss MANPADs and Spetnatz-eating, werewolf ground defenders. F1s and Flying boats/cows seemed like appropriate bombtrucks as long as we can get the rockets tipped with wooden stakes. ... it's 3 AM in the gloaming and I guess I need a DCS mod-developer's license ... no one else is gonna give options of 'spruce, birch, oak, poison sumac, or dipped-in-foxglove'.... ok. I promise, no more sober-drunk posts from me, but it's too damn hot to sleep and I am not going to suffer this over-active imagination alone.

Hey, just an idea for a What If mission: Amid the war in Ukraine, Kazakhstan has taken a stance against Russia's actions during the conflict, and Russia has threatened cutting off economic trade to the country. If this were to escalate, Russia may attempt to capture Kazakhstan's coastline with the Northern Caspian Sea in order to limit their sea trade and make them more dependent on Russian land based trade. This will make for a simple objective, as attempting to open the front across the entire border would be too large in scale. The eastern part of the Black Sea map will simulate the Northern Caspian Sea, where Novorossiysk represents the city of Atyrau, and Sochi represents Beyneu. As it stands, the Kazak armed forces have ~300 T72 tanks, ~200 BMP-1s, and ~300 BMP-2s (though I doubt it is possible to utilize those full numbers in DCS). The Kazak Navy only has a handful of patrol boats, but they do have 2 Su27 and 12 Mi24 Hinds. And, the Kazak air defense force have 20 more Hinds, 3 MiG23s, 23 Mig29s, 20 MiG31s, 14 Su25s, and a mixture of 40 Su27s and Su30s. The Russian objective will be simple, where T90s and T72s start near Novorossiysk, eliminate enemy forces on the outskirt of the city (surrounding it instead of taking it), then move on to Sochi to do the same, where the Russian aircraft should provide CAP. The Russian Caspian flotilla contains 2 Gepard Frigates (Type 54A can be analog), 6 Buyan corvettes, and one Molynia; the Gepards should be used for AA cover, and the corvettes can use their deck guns to engage ground targets. The Kazaks will have tanks and BMPs to slow the advance of the Russians, but will need their air forces to cripple the advance. Kazakhstan will also need to organize an anti ship strike on the Caspian Flotilla, first targeting the frigates with anti ship missiles, and then use bombs and rockets on the remaining corvettes. Let me know what you think!

Very similar would be the F-5, equally bad at ground attack and worse for air to air too.
