Miriam Makeba - Africa's First International Sex Symbol.
She was certainly the first African Music Artist to win a Grammy Award in 1966 for a collaboration Album in the Folk Category with Harry Belafonte. Mama Africa, as Miriam Makeba was fondly referred to, was born in 1922 in South Africa. She had an illustrious career marked with trials and tribulations as a singer, musician and anti-apartheid activist, but continued to be guided by her love for music to propel her onwards, regardless of what she encountered on the way. She passed away while on tour in Italy in 2008 at the age of 76. Background Music Credit - Artifact, The Dark Contenent - Kevin MacLeod.
