Precioso 😍👏👏😍!

I know nothing about painting, not even as a generalist, but seeing this piece of art and craft, it is like MEDITATION.. only halfway through but i just had to write this...it's a school day and i woke up early really excited to watch your vlog (so happy it's a long video too 😭💗) i told myself i should probably just let it play in the background and sneak glances but upon starting your video i said NOPE im watching this with my whole undivided attention... really tho. wow. it's so amazing to see you patiently work towards your gorgeous final pieces. theyre beautiful-yes, but every step of the process is just as beautiful. you are so brilliant at what you do and maybe not all would let it be known to you but you inspire many young artists like me! 🤍 to say truthfully- you are my favorite oil pastel artist. i could watch your videos forever (and i will as long as i can!) thank you for this.

I absolutely loved this. Im a digital artist but i do traditional art too because well, exams and honestly started using pastels only end of this year. And i absolutely fell in love with it the moment i started trying it out, like childhood nostalgia. I remember as a kid i wasn’t allowed to touch pastels because they were too messy and i had a skin condition, and honestly i still have it now. And recently your video popped on my fyp. And it just gave me the extra boost i needed to know that soft and oil pastels is what i want to invest more time in and such. Seeing the colours slowly come together, like it’s not the right colours according to what you just see. But the feeling of you know it’s going to come together is what makes me love pastels even more.

Such an amazing and peaceful video Misako. It's nice seeing how you built your final piece using so many different references and how you did some anatomy study to help the construction of the drawing. I have some questions and a request about materials. You have many different oil pastel sets and they all seem to have their own behaviours and strengths; is it possible to make a short video explaining what those different characteristic are and in which situation or for what effect do you prefer to use one over the other. That would be a great and informative video if you ever decide to make it. p.s. Good luck with DaVinci Resolve; it has a steep learning curve at the beginning, but it will be worth it!
@MisakoFlodin
@MisakoFlodin 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Mishal! I appreciate you noticing how I try to convey my process. It took forever to film all the clips, but it was definitely worth it. About question> I mainly use Sennelier, Mungyo, Paul Rubens and yes, they have heir own behaviours and strengths. Actually your idea for video is pretty interesting, I will try to make a video about how I use them and make a small drawing with each brands. I'm just gonna leave a quick review for each pastels:) -Mungyo ones are very versatile. their texture is harder than Sennelier's, but they blend well and have a good colour variety:) -Sennelier ones are basically lipsticks, you can make smooth surface drawing with them and it's easy to add colours on top of any oil pastels since they are pretty soft. -Paul Rubens oil pastels are basically a stick type of cray. their quality of oil pastels are may vary so sometimes you mind find them difficult to blend with other colours. they are affordable compared to the other two and the amount of pastels you can get for that price range is amazing. so when you want to apply one solid colour to your background you can use them without feeling guilty🤣
@MishalDasani
@MishalDasani 2 жыл бұрын
@@MisakoFlodin Awesome!! That’s good to know. All of the brands are easily available in London, but I wasn’t sure if I should try Sennelier for my first set. I’ve tried a few single pastels already and they are super soft and beautiful to use. I would love to see that comparison video!! Thank you!!

Grateful thanks for your beautiful video post. Watching you work is amazing and inspiring. Please consider writing a paragraph or two about your process of creation, or techniques in the description area for your video. For example, why did you choose Neopastel (NP 1? Or NP 2 water soluble?) for the under layer of the face or other areas? Are you using Prismacolor pencils to add details, or scrape back oil pastels? Your command of oil pastels as a medium are extremely praise worthy and very impressive! I think you'd easily win art contests. Thank you so so much for sharing your painting progress and glimpses into your daily life. You are truly a lovely person! Thank you!

Thank you for taking the time to comment on here! I’m so glad you love my art😊 when I started oil pastel I never would've thought that I could get such a positive and supportive encouragement from people. you guys are all so sweet. I'm glad that I kept trying, comments like this keep me going. and I appreciate your insight for descriptions- I added my art supply list with how I use them for. I use Neo color Ⅱ to draw tiny details, they have smaller tips than oil sticks and I can sharpen them easily with an Exacto knife. you can use colorpencils instead, but I prefer neocolors since I can apply more pigments on a paper. and I use colour pencils to scrape back oil pastels. I guess it doesn’t have to be a colour pencil to do that, but they are not too harsh on paper and they are always scatter around my desk so it’s accessible for me:)

Oil pastels are not my thing but I still enjoyed this video, I've been painting with watercolour and gouche for a few years now and it really seems to fit with me.
