It's obvious already, he loves Kotoko & he's not suppose to practice, but since he knew that it is the only place he could see & be with Kotoko, he practiced & he also trained her just to have some quality time together & he also know that Kotoko is able to learn tennis within the week, like how Kotoko made it to Top 100 when they are still in high school.

After many times rewatched this drama, I feel so bad for kin chan. his sincererity, hiding his jealousy everytime kotoko told him about irie, etc, make him doesn't deserve that story line 😭😭

Rewatching this episode made me realize this: Naoki wanted to have a rematch with sudo bcs he hasn't lost before and so he's determined to win by training kotoko. But when she got injured after returning sudo's serve, he immediately called off the match, not caring about losing. He cared more about kotoko than his pride and dignity- If that makes sense

Watching this again after years ago, i finally realize Naoki missed Kotoko that’s why he came to practice even though he didn’t have to.

But aren't we gonna talk about how Kin chan looks at kotoko admiring how cute she looks while eating 31:56 . Kin chan is always so caring towards kotoko and how he always brings her food. And says that he won't give up. I knew from the very start that third wheel here was too gonna have some harsh time. T.T

There are many instances that Naoki have no excuse in his poor treatment of Kotoko. But there are also many other instances that Naoki is simply “tsundere.” It means a personality of being really cold and even rude outside, but really warm and gentle internally. These type of people often slice people with their words but has a heart that is as gentle as a piece of soft tofu. And they are easily embarrassed and sometimes don’t understand their feelings well, so they try their best to conceal their feelings and get frustrated and angry when people ridicule and expose them. They always want to make sure they are in charge in a relationship, even though they are actually desperately and helplessly in love with the other person. Naoki is such a person. His affection for Kotoko is not a bit less than Kotoko’s love for him. A lot of people don’t recognize that throughout the show, Kotoko has decided to give up Naoki for quite a few times. But Naoki shows up every single time when she does that to make sure she loves him again. Kotoko would have given Naoki up as a high school crush long ago if not for Naoki keep encouraging her and leading her on. While Kotoko’s love is more passionate and outgoing, it’s always Naoki who can’t let go and move on.

the deceased authors husband produced this drama as a love message to show her that he's been in love with her ever since she started chasing him. He wanted to see his name alongside hers once again, added his own (Naoki's) perspective to it and helped in writing him more flawed and weaker since he was never the perfect guy his wife thought he was and Kotoko is more like how he viewed wife in this version. Bright, cheerful, smarter, beautiful because she's the best in his eyes. He never remarried or dated again 💔

Kin-chan is such a sweet man. He deserves a lot of love too.

Okay but can we all talk about Naoiki's subtle love for Kotoko and hints. He went to practice just to see her, wanted to spent time with her that's why he trained her, eats her terrible food, carried her, confessed twice 😭

It's clear that Naoki love Kotoko in his own way. Well, man like him who struggle with emotion does suit perfectly with Kotoko who are expressive and cheerful. Many see kin Chan is sweet, since his caring and expression is so obvious, but it doesn't mean Kin Chan is better. I prefer someone like Naoki more, who agree to teach me and train me to be the better me. His expression is more subtle, but that's make it so precious.

After Kotoko gets injured in the tennis match. She says to him that she is sorry that they lost the match. He replies that he never thought that they would win. This implies to me that all of that training he put her through was mostly so he could see her and make sure she wasn't forgetting him now that she was no longer living in his house. He was just happy to be with her and have her all to himself.

Best character.. So cheerfull... Also best character of Naoki...I really love how he continous beeing a cold heart man... But when Kotoko stays around him... He surely feels enjoy and happy.. Although he doesn't show it in front of her..

Naoki is such a tsundere XD... it's so obvious that he cares for kotoko... He wouldn't help her a lot if he doesn't really care for her. He helped her with her homework, took her to the hospital when she's sick even helped her play tennis

I love how kotoko dad talked with his daughter. Even he said something wrong about Naoki feeling. But he is best dad. And i do love how Naoki learn from his mother about depression. And Matsumoto know that Naoki falling in love with Kotoko.

This girl trying so hard to push Kotoko down. She knows Irie didn't need to show up, she knows he would have put this much time and effort into no one else and it kills her. Irie needs Kotoko more then Kotoko needs him, otherwise, why always put a road block every time she decides to move on. He knows she has the tenacity to do what she sets her mind to and he is terrified she will put that focus into not loving him anymore.

Lol he knows they can't win but he persisted on training her for a week, he can also let other members carry kotoko but he left his racket just to carry her he's obvious as heck

I like Irie's laughing so hard when Kotoko was playing on the court and she got hit by the tennis ball... damn that smile is so cute

Because of naoki, kotoko now have an ability to study, which she cant before, have an ability to play tennis, have an ability to pass nurse exam, she can do a lot of things that a lot of people around her thought she cant

People keep pushing that this was a Japanese adaptation of Taiwanese or Korean drama, little did they know that this drama and all of its versions are adaptation of 1990's manga entitled ITAZURA NA KISS. The original live action adaptation was released in year 1996 with the same name as manga after that a Taiwanese version was created with the title It Started with a Kiss (2005) and released another season with They Kiss Again (2007), later on Japan released an anime version of the manga (2008). Korea made it's own version of the drama entitled Playful Kiss (2010), three years later Japan once again made it's second live action adaptation series with Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo (2013-2014) with two seasons, a little trivia both main leads of original live action adaptation has a cameo playing as nurse and doctor in this version. Thai version of this drama was also aired it is entitled Kiss Me (2015), year later another Taiwanese version was made with Miss in Kiss (2016) and on the same year Japan for the third time released a three part movie series Mischievous Kiss: High School Chapter (2016), College Chapter (2017), and Proposal Chapter (2017). The last adaptation of this manga so far was the Chinese movie version called Fall in love at first kiss (2019). I have watched all versions of this manga and I have to say that each one have their own charms even though they have the same plot. I have my favorites though 😅. The first Taiwanese adaptation and Japan's MK: Love in Tokyo are my favorites. Arjoe's chemistry and natural acting really caught me on their version. Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo on the other hand caught me on their anime take, it feels like you are really watching the manga itself, I really love also the part that the author's husband takes part on producing this version and revealed that this is his love letter for his late wife, you can notice how flawed and not so perfect Irie Naoki was on this version as the husband said that he is not the perfect person his wife have always been seeing, he's a person who's flawed and unabled to recognize his feelings that well. What made me love this version was the undying chemistry of Yuki Furukawa and Honoka Yahagi despite the huge age gap, you really can't feel they were 10 year apart and everytime you watch their version same feels was felt like the first time you've ever watch it (well for me I guess? HAHAHA) yes I do watch this version every year. 💜 So yeah I shared this for people who's unaware which version was the original. Sayonara!

I really love this show, but there are a few things I kinda feel odd about… 1. Every time Kotoko is blamed for Naokis decisions. It is so weird to be that everyone is looking up to him, but the moment he makes a decision towards kotoko, everyone is really rude to her.. 2. I don’t like that every time kotoko decides for herself that she wants to get over him, there are people who convince her to keep following him and do weird things. There is not really a growth. It kinda seems to me that both main characters are not allowed to make their own decisions…
