Seeing him as Cas first, then as Paul Bernardo was a shock.

The fact that people are laughing about him telling what happened during the interview concerns me

I saw the movie and there is definitely stuff out there which is much more disturbing. The horrible thing is that it's real. So, do you have to make a movie about something like this? Maybe not (especially when people "like" to watch it ...), but at least it raises awareness. There ARE horrible people out there if we like it or not. The only thing you can do about this it to be a good person yourself. Misha played a monster for about 90 minutes and now he tries to conquer the world with kindness. (Kudos!) Instead of judging more people should try to do the same.

Thats awful....I've seen "Karla" and thought he did a phenominal job in it, disturbing and uncomfortable? yes. very very much so. your skin crawls watching it. But that does not make Misha a bad person. he portrayed a truely horrible indevidual. Misha took the role as an opprotunity to tell a story. That interviewer was unprofessional and disrespectful.

wow. It would have been so damn difficult to play paul bernado but i think he carried it out well, considering how emotional it would have been.

Wow, I think I actually remember watching this on the news. (I live in Canada) I must have been in middle school at the time. I remember how tragic it was and how taken back everyone I knew was that they were making a movie out of it. To be in the middle of that, oh my god that must have been horrible.

There was nothing wrong with the movie. There are lots of movies that represent real life serial killers or based on the events. Jeremy Renner played Jeffrey Dahmer in Dahmer. There's also movies on Ted Bundy, Ed Gein, etc. I think the only issue with 'Karla' was that the incident was still relatively "fresh" when the movie came out so it's one of those "too soon" issues. Nevertheless, I think Misha played the role perfectly which is his job as an actor.

Senko I think the issue was the fact that they portrayed Karla as being a victim when she had just as much of active participation as her Husband.

Canadian media was very different then American media until this point. We didn't have as many scandal rags and the ones that were were actually pretty limited about what you could say. Media blackouts were really common for ongoing cases. However this case was the first one where they decided to report everything from the court room including what was played on the tapes that had recorded the rapes. It was brutal and a lot of people were really shell shocked by this.

There was a lot wrong with the movie but none of it was on Misha or the actress that played Karla. It was the writers and directors fault. They played Karla off as a victim and while he abused her she was a willing participant in the murders. Going as far as drugging and raping her own sister. That was a decision she made. There's nothing wrong with representing real life serial killers in movies as long as you do it properly. They did not do it properly.

I don't know what is more cringe-worthy: the fact that the movie was made; Misha's experiences while filming the movie; or the audience's laughter as Misha talks about everything having to do with the movie - including the fact that it's based on real-life, horrible, tragic events.

The interviewer on the press junket for the movie said "so you would tell the victims family that you saw their daughters death as a great opportunity for your career?"

Thank you. I was wondering what she'd said, and what commenters in this string were considering inappropriate. They're right. Should Ralph Fiennes be forced to apologize to Holocaust survivors for "Schindler's List"? That was a question from someone grabbing for attention, not someone trying to get insight.

I understand how the interviewer was thinking - the movie company took a very recent and very horrifying series of events and made it into a movie. That's like making a movie about Anders Breivik. All in all, the movie was a mistake on all parties involved (well... maybe not the producer who seemed to get off on it) and I think it is best just to forget about it. I know Mr Collins urges everyone who knows of it to do just that.

Besides his role in Karla, I wonder what other antagonists Misha played particularly. I know there was God Castiel, Leviathan Castiel and apocalypse Castiel. I'm not sure if there were any others.

That movie came out not too long after she was released from jail so the timing and the message behind the movie was horrible.. she’s in her 50s now and lives in Quebec bc Quebecer’s are more concerned about being their own country that she’s somewhat palpable, bigger fish to catch I guess. My parents ran into her once upon a time. I remember them talking about it when I was young and I had no idea that we were in the same city as that leech.

Are you asking what he said? Or you questioning why he had to go through that whole ordeal in the first place? He said "So you'd tell the victim's family that you saw her death as a great opportunity for your career?"

@@thereallalablue to be fair that's kind of how I feel about the producers making this film. Like they just thought they could rip this very traumatizing story from the headlines and it would make it's own publicity. What they didn't understand is in Canada we probably know the victims names just as well as the perpetrators. The parents of Kristen French use to go to highschools across Ontario (they came to mine) and do assemblies just to talk about their daughter and tell you who she was and what she was like. I think we we developed a protectiveness of the families. It was like your neighbor had this tragedy happen to them. I get the defensiveness of the journalist. This was the first case I had ever heard of journalist suffering PTSD covering a story outside of a war zone.

Why are ya'll laughing??? It's not really funny. I understand if like a few people laughed. Some of us dunno how to handle stressful things like this; and tend to laugh it out. Some cry it out. Yell it out. Etc. But there was WAY more than a few- it's not funny at all.🤦🏾
