I rented the Toyota 86 and stayed at the Apex hotel a few years ago! I’m from Colorado and play in a heavy metal band and our tour ended in Frankfurt. It was one of the best experiences of my life as I grew up playing the Nurburgring on video games. Misha was my co driver and did an excellent job helping me around the track! Can’t wait to do it again someday! 🎉

Tip 1: Just a few kilometers more distance from the Nord u will find very nice hotels at a way lesser price. Ur wallet says thank u, but also ur car, as u warm it up propper on ur way to the track, n cool it down propper when leaving the track. Tip 2: Take some time for a cruise in the Eifel. There are nice roads around the Nord: U can drive a day without driving a road twice in a radius of maybe 50km around Nord. Tip 3: Plan ur trip so u don´t have to refill on the Autobahn. Prices are 60 to 70 cent higher per liter.

As i went in nurburg 4 times, maybe my own experience will help, and add interesting things more than this very complete video. I would suggest people to avoid summer time. First, as it is holiday time, lot of people come there and track is very busy. Second, there might be very hot temperatures which isn't good for engines and tyres (lot of misha's summer laps ended with "cooling breaks" because of way too high engine temp) or storms. Third, hotels and restaurants prices are higher. I suggest like may or september/october to come to get optimal weather conditions (not guaranted tho), better prices and less traffic on the track. I went both on week end and during week, i had the luck to get good weather and no too long track closure each time i came. So, maybe if you come from very far, it should be advised to stay there for a week or at least 3/4 days to have the chance to have good weather and some clear laps without trouble. Made my laps with my own car, a Fiesta ST which is a very fun and easy-to-drive sport car, i'd say almost perfect to learn the track and have good sensations. My advice is to know the track before driving it for real, racing sims are very helpful for this, like Assetto Corsa or GT7 who have a very accurate version of the track. Make a lot of laps with a car who has nearly the same specs than your own car, so that you will know every corners, every braking points, and where to be careful (i've had many crashes on schwedenkreuz on sim :) ). When on track, be very focused, check on mirrors very often as there are very fast cars and experienced drivers, be respectful with others, never over estimate your skills, this track is long, narrow, hard to learn, and have lot of very sketchy corners, lot of elevation changes... so be humble, and everything will go well! To be honest, if you're a car/racing lover, there's no equal to riding the nurburgring. An unforgettable experience.

I came a few days last summer. I was with a friend, at 1200km of the Ring, we were drinking a beer. It was a Friday evening, and I said to my friend "ok, now, go to Germany!". I drived all the night, we were in Luxembourg at 5am and we arrived at the Nurb at 7am, with the firsts cars. Absolutely no preparation, and with a low budget we bought our food at Lidl and camp at Brunnchen parking. One of my favorite memory. I'll come again this summer.

As someone who turned up at the ring and found it was very wet, then closed the next day for private use until the evening TF session and the weather showed no sign of improvement for the 3rd day of my visit, get in your car or on your bike & go drive/ ride the local roads, they are gorgeous and you can have several hours of fun while staying in the close vicinity of the track and return there later. It may not be the ring but it is a close 2nd best and still makes excellent use of your time there

Having rode the whole west side of Germany north to south, travelling from Assen to Zurich, 90% of this time sticking to minor roads, the whole experience was beautiful. Every mile travelled on every road I found to be super enjoyable, the roads & their condition, the pre corner signage working like rally pace notes, German drivers standards, the views (especially the Rhine valley), even the people I meet made the experience a lifetime memory, 1 I tell every biker to try 1 day. I only left the Ring to find the sunshine which I knew was to be found further south in Switzerland, so I went to play in the Alps for 4 days before hitting Italy

I did 10 laps in late september the weekend after a VLN/SLN. Be aware that in the mornings when the track is not yet fully dry, it is like driving on ice because of the rubber from the slick tires. So for any new drivers, please be very very carefull when the track is damp and its after a race. Also as someone else mentioned, get a cheap wheel and play assetto corsa, with a car similar to what you rent or drive, knowing the track is a must. Going 60 KM/h and sliding sideways in corners that you should be able to take at double the speed is very very sketchy.

One important advice I think you missed. Take the opportunity to learn the track before you go! Games, track guides, videos, whatever. A lot of corners are blind, and it sucks braking way to early or late just because you don't know what comes next. If you are unable to do it before hand, there is a simulation zone by the GP track. It's not cheap, but cheaper than the track itself. Going there on the night of your arrival, after track closure is IMO good invested money if you don't already know the track.

The Eifel is one of my favourite parts of Germany. There is so much to do and to see in the area it’s a great place for a holiday. With my motorcycle crash hat on I would add that I would always prefer riding my motorcycle on the public roads in the area than on the track itself. The track is great fun in a car. For days out you can visit towns like Köln, Aachen, Cochem, Ahrweiler or Monschau and if you are really into race tracks Spa Francorchamps is a short drive away.

Girl who likes cars chiming in: There's so much cool stuff around the Nürburgring that isn't car-related, too. I keep wanting to do a wine tour given that the Ahr is one of the best pinot noir regions in the world, but that doesn't play too well with wanting to do car stuff more, haha. Castles, hiking/biking trails, all kinds of rad stuff. Take a day and go explore, even if you're there for the track yourself. (Same advice applies to other tracks, too. Holy crap, there are some cool parks next to Watkins Glen, for example.)

Last year I was lucky enough to finally get to Nurburging. We went in May and the weather was perfect (we were really lucky that the whole weekend was sunny). We rented from Apex and the experience was really nice. The instruction lap was really useful and I highly recommended it. In terms of accommodation, we stayed at a guest house that was around 20km away from the track. Even though I didn't plan on taking the Apex Taxi, they found an empty slot, and damn it was a really nice experience. I would 100% recommend going for a Taxi lap. It was amazing. The atmosphere around Nurburg is awesome. People are just happy to share their passion with you. Can't wait to come back to Nurburgring 😃

I loved the sunday morning tf's.... leave home at 5, eat around 270kms on a near empty autobahn, blast the FastbackN straight to ED ,get nearly 1 full tank, be one of the 1st to get on track at opening with a warm engine and tires. Easy warmup lap, keep lapping until refuel /feel sick or get a code brown. refuel, chill at brunchen for a bit, drive the ''fun'' route back home to belgium . Used to do these daytrips at least once a month. Except July and August. Would also avoid the easter weekend "Terroristenfahrten" if you are taking your first steps, but its nice to spot cars then... If you are lucky u might actualy see one moving . I went the day before and in the 2 hours the track was open, I only got 2laps because of the traffic jams, without any track closure. I can still smell the rubbery brakes and clutches infused with the uncatalisted fumes when I think about the exit jam. Right after N24 was a very nice suprise with the the large lay out. Biggest bang for the buck ! Could not manage get there for 3years now 😥😥 Hoping to get back at it this year.

There actually used to be a railway to Adenau, but the stupid West German government closed it and ripped up the rails in 1985... but it was just an extension of the Ahrweiler line that got washed away, in any case. There was also a plan in the 1920s to extend it down to Daun to link up with the Moselle line to Trier, but the Adenau-Daun link was cancelled under pressure from the French military occupation of the Rhineland and the Moselle branch was also closed in 1985.

It's not about being allowed in TF, but by TÜV in general most of the tines depending on your side/feet airbag configuration. 4 point has ABE, 5 point needs extra inspection and depending on your TÜV guy it may or may not get in the papers. As for the media, what I said is what the Nürburgring told me. But to avoid the discussions they have one general rule. Just like they would tell you that you have to drive 50 in Breidscheid.

Dumb question edition 5 billionth - How high is the chance for someone to take a stranger for a lap in their car? Sure, Misha goes on plenty of fun laps in fun cars, but if I asked online beforehand and/or turned up to the tracked and asked around, how high is the chance that I could get a ride in someone's car? What's the culture around this?

Been going for 3 years now and would say the chance is quite high. I have never asked but have been offered a passenger lap twice just by talking to people about their cars and asking them questions. I have never excepted though as I am a nervous passenger. Even got offered a lap in a fast M2 which is my favourite car by an English lad but just couldn't do it. Good luck. Actually go on the 26th and 27th of August and I'll take u a lap in my rental car

@@neilturner4346 Hey, thanks for the answer! Unfortunately, by the time August comes I will likely be back in Latvia. but hey - never know what life is going to bring and maybe I will be able to accept this generous offer. ;)

Not sure about the culture of it, but if someone asks me nicely I'd usually gladly take them for a lap or two. So if you see a grey widebody M140i from Stuttgart at the Ring, feel free to chat me up ;) I'll be there for season opening and last weekend of april.

Voor de echte Nordschleife beleving: boek een ronde met de APEX TAXI, deze snelheid ga je zelf nooit halen met je eigen auto. For the real Nordschleife experience: book a round with the APEX TAXI, you will never reach this speed with your own car.
