That's my home town...born, raised and quickly left when i reached adulthood. I pronounce it: Zero-cuse....because that's the average temperature (hence the reason i moved to a warm southern climate).

I was waiting for Honeoye, Susquehanna, Keuka, Oswegatchie, Erie, Adirondack Mountains etc. Even though most of them are lakes or rivers (From a person who lived in Honeoye Falls)

Yeah, Manlius was right there on the que card and she skipped right over it! I heard a Rochester radio personality pronounce it funny , [though l believe she's a transient] “Man Nil Us".. ..

I'm from CNY and I never heard of Honeoye. How do you pronounce it? Is it like Honey-O-EE or Ho-Noy?

Even in Skaneateles no one can agree on the pronunciation. I've seen "SKAN-ee-atlas" and "Skinny-at-last" and "Sk-natles". The most common is "skinny-atlas"

On the other hand, ask somebody who is from Syracuse to say "Washington." It will come out as Warshington. There is no "r" in the word.
