This was a good year imo.

The contest is more than a gown competition. Her final answer was less than stellar compared to the winner. We gag at the superficial, but the judges see more than that.

​@@TheDragLoverSweetheart, I've been going to the pageant for 25 years. I'm very aware of how the judging works. I'm entitled to my opinion. I thought Zhane did an excellent job. She just was not my first choice.

I'm not dismissing your opinion. I'm simply stating facts. Melony didn't even umderstand the final question, so she had no idea how to answer it + plus her talents were mediocre at best, thus her 3rd place placement. And if you are entitled to your opinion, so am I. Regarding Melony, mine just happens to align with the judges.

I do agree that Melanie's question was not executed well but she did win interview (which i also consider) and her gown/swimsuit were #1 for me. I found Zhanes swimsuit cheap (though she sold it very well) and gown lacking, but give her props for talent and on stage question. I recognize everyone's achievements, but still think I would have selected differently. To each his own.

Miss Continental has no age or weight limit. They've never discriminated in that way for the Miss contest.

@@TheDragLover they have a plus size category. Many of those girls should go there or don’t have a plus size category at all.

You make a fair point. But why do you think that they don't put restrictions on the Miss category? Just come out and say, if you weigh over 200 pounds or if you are over 40 years old, you will never be Miss Continental, go to Elite or Plus? People like Daesha Richards, Sunny Dee Lite, Roxxy Andrews and a few others would be disqualified from the Miss contest, and told to go to Elite or Plus. Victoria LePaige would have never been Miss Continental. But Continental does not do that. Why do you think that is?

​@@TheDragLover I get both points. I can tell u that so many people discouraged Sunny Dee Lite, told her to give up and go to Elite. If anything, the discrimination is in the other categories (if u are younger than 40 or weigh less than 200, it disqualifies you from being in Elite or Plus). But it somehow reeks of unfairness if you disqualify the bigger, older girls from Miss Continental because that's the flagship contest.
