Claudia's character loses weight during the series. A large character could not do that safely. And Soyi is brilliant.

And there are a lot of flashbacks of Dong Hee as a model before she put on weight. I think casting Claudia was definitely the right choice

Yes, it would have taken too long to lose the weight safely over the course of filming. They did a marvelous job with her costume, and she played the role with sensitivity and grace. As someone who has struggled with weight issues almost my entire life and have lost 100 pounds and counting, I identified with her struggles.

Something’s seriously wrong with some people who are triggered by life… the whole point of ACTING is to make people become interested in the character and story… toxic people will always find something they are triggered by… it’s ridiculous.

Fat suit or using a plus size actress... it's called ACTING! How could they have cast a plus size actress? The shoot was only 8 months, the character has to be model thin to shoot this series. Jeesh, always proves, there will always be haters out there.

Agree with you. PC can do a lot of good. But some people abuse it to take control of everything. Acting is acting and casting a fat person for fat person's role is not necessary. Atypical family is NOT a documentary film.

I don’t think they’re actually disrespecting being a fat person. I actually appreciate how they put a body suit on a skinny person. If they actually casted a plus sized person they would’ve have felt more insecure bcus after some episodes the characters body got fully transformed so ofc they have to cast two different people for one role. They did an amazing work. Well can’t say anything,there’ll obviously be some people to hate.

I don't get why people want someone else to play Bok Donghee. I mean, yes, these days also fat actors/actress can be casted but as you see in the drama she is loosing weight. You can't loose weight fast so they will have to change the actress at the end. It might also cause that they are playing the role different or something so it will get hate anyways.

I was first put off that they didn't cast an overweight actress, but then immediately figured that she's going to lose it throughout the series. And that's exactly what happened.

I'm an avid fan of Ms. Claudia Kim. I think she's very charming. I truly respect such an actress who performed her role as an oversized daughter excellently. She's the only reason why I became interested in this drama. I even thought that she should had been the female lead role with her extraordinary supernatural character being fat who could fly and save the world.😍☺️ I highly recommend my favorite actress for more lead roles ahead.👍

Now a days people get offended even by a small thing... that woke mentality is polluting minds.. people can't even take a joke now a days.. They needed a good actor to do justice to the role, it is nothing to do with fat shaming or discriminating fat people... sometimes director/writers have a creative vision with someone in mind... it is just a drama take it like a drama 🤦
