Riyo Mori's experiences has been bittersweet. While the world loved her persona, the Japanese did not like her un-Japanese behaviour and they were shallow enough to point out that she was plain. But others, Miss Universe org and Vietnamese particularly acknowledged her all these years.

I remember being pleasantly surprised when she won during her year. I never gave her much notice after the pageant. But a closer look at her and she is truly beautiful inside and out. Very deserving.

When I first saw her, I wasn't so much convinced that she won. But after watching her journey, I understand why she won. She is so humble and loving. One thing I like from her is the positivity that generates from her to everyone. I feel like I gain more strength after listening to what she says. One of my favorite miss universe 💖.

I'm really happy that she comes off as humble and very friendly, I was blessed that she replied to email last year and I wrote to her for the second time, hope she replies soon. But I didn't really like how the press painted her as 'arrogant and dumb' earlier on, which many saw her as being rude. But, she's not! Riyo deserved the title! She's my favourite Miss Universe aside from Natalie Glebova and Amelia Vega.

Did you see Nathalia Guimarães walking before ver? Miss Brasil was perfect, not a single plastix surgery e probably the prettiest miss in the last two decades. She was the real winner!

Because there was only japanese judges in 2007 to repair the 2006 fraud. And our Miss Brasil, Nathalia Guimarães, just happens to be the prettiest miss that stepped on Miss Univers for the last two decades! Hard to copy

For me she was the best miss universe. during her reign she got a lot of airtime on that vh1 show i believe? her personality just shines and she was truly a queen - graceful and elegant from her dance training. Pia was the most relatable one. sure the south americans might seem "prettier" or sexier... but they're just that, just a facade
