Benjamin Sagun
Missing Since: February 26, 2012
Missing From: Anne Arundel County, Maryland
Sex: Male Height: 5’ 11” Weight: 140lbs
Race: White
Age: 42 years old
Case Description:
Sagun was last seen by his mother in Anne Arundel County, Maryland at 6:30 a.m. on February 26, 2012. He was supposed to go to church in the 700 block of Ridgely Avenue in Annapolis, Maryland that morning, but he never arrived. He left a note saying, "I'm going to the father who loves me."
Sagun's mother reported him missing at 6:00 p.m. the same day. He has never been heard from again and his pickup truck, a blue 2002 Chevrolet S10 with the Maryland license plate number 21L939, has never been located.
Sagun frequented the Broadneck Library in Annapolis prior to his disappearance. His case remains unsolved.

Hats off to this detective! He is definitely a role model on exactly how all LEO should be. Not only did he appreciate your assistance and give you all the information that he was able to provide, including his own hunches but he made sure that you knew and felt like you were welcomed being there and involved in this case. It's so great to see Detective Sline work so closely and willingly with you on this case. With the success and growth of AWP and with all of the added exposure the teams have been blessed to recieve, I have a feeling that more and more law enforcement agencies will want to participate and assist you in all of your future search efforts.

@@fiftyshadesofcraycray at first I thought that too... But now I am leaning towards the car was put there after... And I think that is why we haven't heard anything because they think that it was put in after as well and they don't want anyone to think they are close or something like that.

@@dawnkeener9836 I have heard so many different things and stories keep changing. I have been following AWP since almost the beginning. I have full faith in their abilities and the utmost trust and respect for them as individuals. I have never been given a reason to doubt them or their gut instincts. Nick is "new" to the AWP team, but I know he's been involved longer. If they trust him, so do I. I do hope you're right. Someone needs to be held responsible. We all, generally speaking, partied and drank as underaged teens. My parents did not condone or approve of it at all. For that community to act like it's OK is not OK, especially unsupervised. My opinion doesn't matter but I gave it anyway.

This detective was amazing with communication to you and providing a great software app to use and the gift of the fold out thing for you to use in searching cold cases. You learned so much from this man and I gather he learned from you. Thank you AWP for sharing these 2 videos!!! I think we the viewers are learning, as well, with this case. Hopefully more search and recovery teams can come into the area and search more to bring Benjamin Sagun home.

When Doug says "Detective Schlein's hospitality since we've been here in Anne Arundel County has been epic" I could not possibly agree more. Most of the LEOs AWP works with are ( thankfully ) pretty awesome. Detective Schlein is a cut above.

Doug, I admire & appreciate your respect for the personal or sensitive parts of the backstory. We don't need to know those details. I don't know this family but if it were my family, I'd be grateful that a search for a loved one didn't open us up to crazy soap-opera speculation.

It’s a privilege to know Detective Jay Schline personally. What you see in this episode of: Missed Sunday Church - The Case of Benjamin Sagun, is also his true off-duty personality. It’s crazy how close to home this episode is and how he kept this search with AWP private. Watching this episode brings back so many memories. He represents the majority of LEOs that the media won’t show. I pray Mr. Benjamin Sagun is found and as long as Detective Schline is working it, he won’t stop looking. AWP is not like a Hollywood movie in which they find every single missing person case they take on. The waters they’re scanning in are difficult because they’re not always calm, even in the smaller coves. When storms come in or on windy days it would be extremely difficult for their boat to sustain those currents and large waves and still be able to sufficiently scan. As you can see in this episode, the choppiness of the water on the days they were filming, demonstrate how unstable the waters can be in different weather conditions, yet they’re still willing to take it on to adequately search for Mr. Sagun and hopefully bring some sort of closure to his family. Unfortunately, they don’t always have the outcomes viewers desire. It’s admirable that Detective Schline welcomed their help. It’s also admirable, gracious, heroic and honorable for the calling AWP has answered. I just want to say thank you to AWP for their unwavering determination in continuing the search for Mr. Sagun regardless of adverse weather conditions. You are all heaven sent. God Bless you.

I really think this type of coverage which leaves OUT very painful and personal family information we do NOT need to know is so much more in keeping with the AWP channel. These families do not need to spill their private nightmares to have AWP involved. Way to go, guys. If viewers want "sordid" details or character assassination they can go elsewhere. I really appreciate this less intimate grilling of family. This young man was broken and hurting. My condolences to his loved ones. Thank you for sharing your story with us. May God give you every grace to heal.

Wow, what an impressive officer!!! He shares the same kind of passion as AWP does, caring about the missing, bringing them home and giving some peace to the families loved ones. Makes me tear up. I've never endured such a thing like these families have, I can't imagine not knowing where my daughter and son in law were. It is a beautiful thing that y'all are doing. I am proud of all of you.

It was delightful watching Doug and Detective Schlein bouncing off each other's enthusiasm and shared resources. I was smiling at Doug getting agitated and animated over the potential of the new technology and was then struck by the detective's body language at the next location where it seemed like he was willing the water to let go of it's secrets. I suspect we have had the privilege of witnessing the beginning of a friendship and productive working relationship. Although it's disappointing that Benjamin has yet to be brought home, I'm glad his family and friends are not carrying that burden alone. It's good to have good people on your side and I hope that is of some comfort in these tragic circumstances.

I know AWP typically resonates within the 5 mile radius of “home base” But I have this thought that keeps coming to mind. If Benjamin wanted to unalive himself, and did not want to be found I feel like we should be looking further outside of the “knowns”. If he didn’t want to be found then there’s no limitations on choice in location for him. could be a location he knows, but doesn’t typically KNOW persay. I’m not sure if I’m articulating this in words but I’m trying lol

You articulated this perfectly. I am pretty sure Annapolis has been using plate readers for almost 20 years, so has most of the DC Metro area, since 9/11. It has been used for security reasons. The databases that store the info is easily searched. The readers are placed on bridges, major roads, busy intersections. And while I wish we lived in a world where those readers were not necessary, I can see their value in the search for missing people. Most people only think about license plate readers as they are used for collecting tolls on toll roads.

Adventures with Purpose has an amazing following across the nation from all walks of life, and you strive to show all law enforcement officers respect while you're working to bring families closure. It's been said by many before me but seriously, the effort that this officer is going to and his determination and persistence is fantastic. A lot of respect to him. Ok this officer /detective is one of the best I’ve ever seen or watched ! We need him everywhere ! Not afraid to help y’all find the victim . Not afraid to look bad cause they didn’t find them themselves . It’s about one person when doing this type stuff , it’s about the victim ! Thank you to him and you Doug and your friend that went along with you filming that has helped with other cases ! Very much appreciated and loved ! ❤ y’all stay safe !

Wow this was fantastic guy's! The extra technology and the interaction with this detective was just admirable. He really had a strong dedication too finding this man and being as much involved as positive. Much respect for for the man! You guy's are truly fantastic, if it was my loved one I would definitely want you all out to help solve a case! I've watched from the early day's and I don't have word's. It is also fantastic that here in Australia we now have Adventures with purpose👍I know you helped them in alot of way's. Thank you for what you do🙏

I’m truly thankful for what AWP does, and I love my new AWP shirt! Sometimes I wonder if the same amount of love and effort spent to find the lost was used before they were lost would have made a difference. I have suffered major depression all my life, and I’m grateful for all those who helped me through my darkest times. I guess my advice to the viewers - who can’t get in a boat, use sonar, and dive - is to be more attuned to those around you. And take care of your own mental health - once I realized it was up to me to reach out for help, things completely turned around for me. ❤

You people of AWP are doing a great job in helping other's to find lost loved ones. I live in Hobart , Tasmania, Australia and haven't heard of any thing of anybody doing what you are doing. America is lucky to have people like you doing this sort of work.
