Nerds be like: I know where I am at all times because I know where I am not. By subtracting where I am from where I'm not or where I'm not from where I am, whichever is greater, I obtain a difference or deviation. I use this deviation to generate corrective commands and drive myself to go from where I am to where I'm not and therefore arriving at a place I wasn't, I now am. Consequently, the position that I am, is now the position that I wasn't and it follows that the position that I was, is now the position that I'm not. In the event that the position I am isn't the position that I wasn't, I have acquired a variation, that being the difference in position of where I am and where I wasn't. If variation is a significant factor, it too can be corrected but I have to know where I was. The human guiding system works as follows: because variation has modified some of the information I have obtained, I'm not sure just where I am. However I am sure where I'm not, within reason and I know where I was. I now subtract where I should be from where I wasn't or vise versa and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where I shouldn't be and where I was, I am able to find my debiation and variation which is called error.

I think I get it. The missile knows how fast it should be traveling and where it should be traveling. It can then use this information to figure out where it is based on where it was. So, for example, it were at (5, 4, 3) and it knows it’s moving at a rate of (1, 2, 3) then it can calculate that it should be at (6, 6, 6). In other words, it calculates its position by its rate of movement, previous known positions, and positions it shouldn’t be in.

Holy shit, it's come full circle... Years ago I used to use this audio to micspam on servers in TF2. Now many years later, I was curious of how a wire-guided missile would work. You're telling me that a missile will fly for half a mile, all the while the wire is connected to the launcher?? This is dumb life stuff, but hearing this audio again out of the blue was nostalgic to say the least.

There's about a bajillion types of missiles, all with different guidance systems, but wire-guided missiles do have a spool of super thin wire going back to the launcher. You usually see wire-guided missiles used on anti-tank missiles on ground vehicles
@joojoojeejee60582 жыл бұрын
@@ToniMorton Even some modern missiles have cables, such as the Israeli Spike anti-tank missile. Cable provides extra functionality, but is not required by the missile guidance as such. It is a fire and forget missile, but the cable allows the operator to alter the course after the launch if he wants and also monitor the TV feed and even transmit it to other troops.

Most missiles work by Radar (most often far away targets - either following a radar reflector, e.g. an aircraft, or a radar source, e.g. ground based radar station) or Infrared (for short distances, as such is emitted by the engines of airplanes, or sometimes also large distances, but rather ineffective at range compared with radar) or sometimes GPS coordinates against ground targets, as in cruise missiles

Not everyone gets it. It’s actually poetic &precise. If u hve ever used ur stove 2bake something, u hve used the basic form of the system he was talking about. Ur stove uses a thermometer (thermocoupler) that sends signal 2ur timer/stove controller. It measures the temperature & adjusts the heat 2 the temperature u set it 2 cook. Eg. u wanna bake ur pizza @425F, u set ur oven for 425F. The stove heats up until it reaches 425F, then cuts power off. Since u want 2bake ur 🍕 for 20mins @425F, the stove controller will hold the temp @425. If it gets cooler, &reaches 420F, the thermocoupler signals ur stove to power on and go high, back2 425F. Ur stoves control system measures temperature. The missile guidance system measures, speed/acceleration, direction, gps data etc.. to adjust its trajectory and hit the target 🎯 u programmed it 2hit(just like u would program ur stove). The missile guidance system has to process an immense amount of data to make adjustments real time. (Some oversimplification.) It’s generally called P.I.D, Proportional Integral Derivative.
@lanchanoinguyen291410 күн бұрын
The missile use a rotating transparent disc with lines that acts like a tone generator focus plane,the heat from the outer side would result a faster pulse than the inner(angular velocity),this priciple also apply for the size of the heat source.And this mechanism can help the sensor to know about the orthogonal of the target in term of dot product and scalar.But that is not enough: target × rocket = dot or: x1*x2+y1*y2=dot if rocket is statical then (x2,y2)=(0,0) which make nosense. The rocket must knows its global position,by obtaining its movements first,it can then calculates the (x1,y1) of the target.There is also another way to do this without knowing the rocket position but due to the lack of design i can only assume this.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is - whichever is greater - it obtains a difference or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position that it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is is now the position that it wasn't, and if follows that the position that it was is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information that the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it know where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice versa. And by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.
