The Bahamas’ director general of tourism has offered her sympathies to the family of Taylor Casey, a 41-year-old Chicago woman who local authorities say has not been seen for six days. Casey disappeared from a yoga retreat on Paradise Island - five miles from Nassau - on June 19. An active police investigation is currently underway. NewsNation's senior national correspondent Brian Entin visits the retreat to get some answers.

The Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas is one of the oldest ashrams in the world and it has an excellent reputation - I studied there myself and there is nothing 'questionable' about it... yoga classes, vegan food, seminars, meditation, workshops, etc. It's very well-run and welcomes thousands from around the world every year. The ashram is an integral part of the Paradise Island community and I can assure you that a guest going missing would be taken extremely seriously. They are serious-minded people and there are strict rules that guests follow. I can't imagine what could have happened to her. The sea is calm in front of the ashram. Did she leave the premises and if so where did she go? There's not too many places to go, frankly; it's not a big island. Did she head to the resort for some reason? Did she meet up with some locals? Hopefully there will be answers soon.

I have been to Paradise Island twice. It is small island full of men that try to drug women in drinks and stalk, especially sitting in lobbies of the hotels and following them. I am from NYC so I was extra cautious and stayed in resort and frequented highly populated tourist places. Never be nice and trust the local guy who will pretend to "like" you. It seems to be accepted by all if you wander off. One women bartender at the resort said to me as I returned from a day in my room sunning on the balcony "I was wondering where you where, I though he took you away some place and killed you."

I’m glad that News Nation sent Brian Entin to the Bahamas to check for the woman from Chicago who is missing. I wonder if she took a taxi and was abducted. This is horrible, and Brian Entin saw flyers of other missing people where she was staying. I was at Sivananda when Taylor disappeared. The morning and evening satsangs are recorded and available online. I see Taylor in the video on the 18th. @@echob6349 thanks for replying. Respectfully, men cannot "become" women. If i may, another question? Was the class permitted time to explore the island and mingle? @@bethsheba7 This particular regimen is exceptionally immersive and students know that before attending. The frame of mind to want to partake in this experience is usually one of renunciation. Meaning no one here has come to hook up or press up against anyone else. This is an in depth study of God and Self. The ashram rules do state that no one can leave the grounds without asking permission. There is nowhere to go. The only place would be Atlantis which is 20 minutes down the beach. To enter Atlantis you need a wristband. Otherwise there are only private homes, mostly empty.

At this point I’m pissed off with these international news stations reporting on things going on in The Bahamas. Although the yoga retreat is near Atlantis it has nothing to do with it. It’s really not even that close tbh. The yoga retreat should be responsible for all of their students. I’m also quite certain it’s not even owned by locals. Why tf would there be a search party or flyers all around? The beach is very open if she was there you would know. Pardon me but if her body was there after all this time you would smell it. It’s not like there’s a dense forest to search through. The retreat seems like they dnt even care. The students seem unbothered. And no one has even said where she went missing or the last place they saw her. Why doesn’t the retreat have up missing flyers? Why aren’t they looking? It’s weird but it’s also a possibility she wanted a new life. It happens. Parents always like to say “I know my child” but do we really know the people we love? We dnt live in there thoughts. Tourism may be The Bahamas’ main industry but it’s not the only one. So please. As for other crimes. Bahamians take care of their guests. Crime is mainly gang activity. And that’s way off from any tourist destination. These shark attacks and drownings. For the love of God when tourists come over I need them to just use common sense. Innocent lives are being lost because ppl dnt think before they get in the water.
