Reading some of these comments blaming both Rachael and her mum for the events that occurred is disgusting. As a 66 year old woman I can honestly say that as a young adult whenever I was upset I used to go for walks no matter what the time was and at those times no one and I mean no one would stop me from walking out that door. We as humans and especially young ones don't think of danger in fact they think they are invincible. I am sure when Rachael left for that short walk home she never thought she would meet a monster. RIP Rachael.

It's not about victim blaming. It's about reducing the chances of something bad occurring. We all know we *should* be able to walk the streets at night in perfect safety but the reality of the situation is that this just isn't true. If a young woman walks the streets late at night and alone, there is an increased risk for her. There's increased risk for lone men too but there are more factors stacked against women than there are men. If my wife let my daughter walk alone late at night and said something along the lines of "don't let your dad know" I would be absolutely furious. Do let me know. Get me out of bed and I'll drive her, walk with her, walk behind her if she wants to be alone. The world is full of opportunistic psychopaths - you can't just pretend they don't exist.

I’d just like to say kudos to the humberside police department for immediately getting on this case without making the family wait for agonizing hours longer. This was detectives using their common sense to realize this is out of the normal for this woman, so something must be going on. Wow! He could not have killed her on January 1st around 2:30- 3am. The police found her body on the 28th. A body begins to decompose hours after death. After 28 days, the neighbors would had complained about a horrible smell. The police would had smelled a decomposing body from the front door. He may of held her hostage in his flat the entire time. She could had tried to escape and managed to get to the door....

It will never cease to amaze me and disgust me in equal measure, when people think it’s ok or a valid comment to immediately cast aspersions on the family. I don’t believe any of us know how we’d react or what we’d do in this tragic situation. There are evil people amongst society that take away not only the life of the victim but that of their loved ones who then have to attempt in some way to carry on, but why do some believe it appropriate in any way whatsoever to add even more pain. To those who think it’s acceptable to write hurtful remarks…shame on you all!!! I pray Rachel has found peace and my prayers go out to her family..

No interference with English grammar at that point, just the use of the past participle instead of the present one. And yes, sit is a 'verbum intransitivum' so that's probably why you think it sounds strange but there must have been a transitive verb at some stage (as it is still present in other Germanic languages).

It wasn't Chief Superintendent Davison that ordered a door-to-door search but an officer in a lower position. When Davison found out he went ballistic and said there was no budget for a close search. The officer was being reminded of his position and accused of wasting resources and was heading for a disciplinary when the news came in that she had been found. If it had been left to Davison she would never have been found but like many in his position, he is happy to steal someone else's glory but would not have shouldered the blame for the search had it not been fruitful.

The murderer in court actually blamed his friend for the act. So even though he confessed, he later tried to pin it on his friend. Sadly, Vanda Moran, Rachel's sister died at age 41 from exposure to chickenpox after being an amputee with partial blindness due to diabetes. Her dad blamed her sister's murderer for her death too saying she neglected her health after Rachel's death. So tragic for the family.

Yes, Mary, there is a presence of evil - which is not fear, it is "evil" - when a psychopath enmeshes with your life - evil has "being" - you experience a terror because evil has a body-mind - the body- mind of the psychopath. His being is evil. I used to discount the word "evil" before he crossed my life, but evil is not a word, it is a thing, a presence, and as you say, Real. It is an actual existence. I am not able to define it though. This story is one example of it.

Sadly nobody is truly safe, when I was younger I use to walk home from the night club after departing with friends. I always had my phone on me, and even pepper spray just for precaution. I would get scolded by my mum and my brother, for walking home on my own. But when you are young you don't necessarily see danger, you think you are invincible. Exactly when the Queen died my Mum went to see the coffin and as she walked from the bus stop my Dad spoke to her while she was on her way home as it was early in the morning and my Dad wanted to ensure that she was safe. Most of us ( if not all) have probably been out at ridiculous hours of the night and early in the morning especially if we’re ( for example) on our way home from somewhere b it a pub the theatre a concert or anywhere you might have been for the evening and it’s only luck (I know things do happen) I believe that you arrive unharmed. Rachel’s family weren’t to blame for what happened to her they had no inkling that she would b in immediate danger even though they were worried. We do all we can to keep our loved ones safe and make sure they’re not gonna get into any form of trouble etc but it doesn’t always work out that way you may not realise or foresee the something untoward is happening or going to happen. Talk about BAD LUCK, all the way around -- a weak and worthless boyfriend, AND the horrible timing of her murderer being at the wrong place at the wrong time. The irony is that "worthless boyfriend" probably doesn't give a damn. He certainly didn't seem to care very much about her in that video. The boyfriend went out with his friends, and probably left the cats with enough food to last the time he would be out (Which is only a few hours). Did you expect him to bring cats to a party? Do you think Rachel would leave the cats in his care if he would not have the decency to leave the cats with enough food? Rachel went out with her family, came back and decided to go put herself at risk by walking a mile in streets filled with mentally ill and unstable men. Her mother was against her walking because its common sense that women can be subjected to all kinds of cruelty by evil men in the dead of night... And yet your take from this whole case is to blame this on the boyfriend?? All because you were not satisfied with how he acted in a 15 second video?? There is something seriously wrong with you... I can only hope you're projecting your own feelings about your boyfriend, because it would be really concerning if you go about everyday life with this kind of mentality.

@@Sheba8. Exactly other than what was mentioned on the program etc we don’t fully know what happened leading up to the horrific events that occurred yes I understand parents do their best to protect us and keep us safe from any kind of harm but they also want us to b independent Xx

Most of comments blame her boyfriend and mother, not murderer. It was her decission to walk alone at night . It was murderer's decission to kill her

The kitties would have survived for one night. Impulsive behavior. I can’t believe nobody drove her home….

Probably but it’s ( as with parents too) for pet owners to worry about their pets I know cats are very independent animals but nonetheless Rachel’s kitties were like her children she just wanted to make sure they were safe I’m the same with my cats Xx

Never been a pet person but when my wife brought Florence ( a little kitten) 🤦🏻‍♂️I can’t believe the effect she’s had having on me and family, we treat her like she’s our child ,she’s 2 now and we still talk to her like she’s a baby, covering her up when she’s sleeping 🤦🏻‍♂️closing curtains to keep the light out 🤦🏻‍♂️honestly she’s part of the family, so we get how much she cared for them and she was probably looking for comfort from them when your a little down (sometimes works for me)

Some people just walk around late at night, thinking their neighborhood is safe. Well, they learn nowhere's safe.

She wasn't "just walking around". Go get a better hobby than casting aspersions on a murder victim.

Think the mom is a bit of a simpleton. She admitted that she was going to ask the passerby to walk her daughter home but decided against it!!
