Its really sad the Blues is becoming a lost art form if we don't keep it alive in the next 20years it'll only be a myth! Keep BLUES alive!

lord only knows where you are eleven years hence but the blues is still alive and kicking in the guise of the white stripes, elbow (the older stuff at least) a lot of the sludge bands, the NOLA crowd etc are blues-based too imo though the blues is just one man and an acoustic guitar (though fred gets a pass). muddy waters, eric clapton with the big backing bands leave me cold son house for example was never particularly brilliant in terms of technical skill, even back in the thirties before the whiskey set in. but boy, when he sings theres something otherworldly emanating from deep inside this quiet and god-fearing man thats something i dont get from chicago blues. muddy waters' version of walking blues is for me, far superior to anything he came out with later
@zoso1980
@zoso1980 3 жыл бұрын
@@jackssmirkingrevenge9365 The blues as performed like this, with space and depth, is being lost. White Stripes and various rock musicians who take elements don't qualify as blues. The blues with all the richness between the notes is dying. To say it's "alive" it lives in slivers and shades in white rock musicians who don't get the whole nuance between the notes.

He was in a hop joint in Clarksdale Miss. A lot of years ago. I was young and the women that would come there to see him. I was a young man and loved women and my cousin Leroy did to. We would go there to hear good music but I must say the women that would come to see him play Hollywood model Queens they were but they lived in Clarksdale Miss. My cousin I did not see him for about two week until I went into town he had a black eye and busted lip. I asked him were he had been. The story is never miss with another man's woman.

+Alexander Köck Ill steer away from the whole 'practice more' advice. McDowell's sound is largely attributed to the semi hollow body guitar. A tube amplifier does not play a huge role in his particular sound, its the semi-hollow. He used a Gibson Trini Lopez when he went electric. I believe he also used metal thumb picks. This creates a very tin-like blues sound. You really hear the 'chuck-chuck' sound when he's thumping the bass strings.
