I want to orchestrate broadside combat. eqch side just moving parallel and firing at each other. as a sidenote, i think it would have been cool if the landship’s big guns could only fire from the sides. then you’d have to use it in an interesting “driveby” way.

@@Mortarion-xt9wpI feel like the explanation is fine, but I’m worried that once AI Gelt finishes off the Burning Wind Nomad he’s just going to keep going and start taking over the Central Provinces and the Coast. If I’m playing Zhao Ming I don’t want to have rush east to make sure that Gelt doesn’t gobble up all of my unique landmarks.

@@InquisitorThomas yeah, I agree that the reason he is there makes enough sense. But it does feel like he is going to be more annoying than helpful if you're playing a Cathay campaign. You don't want to kill him off, but you want to control all of Cathay.

The most surprising thing in this video was realizing that Sotek does not know what a causus belli is. (That's not a dig.) A causus belli is the (ostensible) reason for the war. For example: "This region is historically and legally a part of Sylvania, but has been taken by Stirland. I am declaring war to liberate it." In a lot of grand strategy games, it is either impossible or severely punished to declare a war without a causus belli.

The Elspeth DLC is a homerun for me. Love every single new unit, love Elspeth and her campaign mechanics sound amazing as well! She could end up being my new favourite Legendary Lord in the game, that's how much this appeals to me.

I'm a little disappointed about the Nuln Ironsides not having repeater guns. But alas, we'll see how they perform. Everything else has me salivating though! This all sounds incredible, and Gelt's new position and campaign mechanic makes me really want to play him now!

I almost want to play Gelt more than Elspeth now lol! He seems really fun now with that faction mechanic and start position! You can still fight nurgle and vampires, but now also cathayans, rats, ogres and the dawi zharr!

I just realized something. With the new SUMMON THE ELECTOR COUNTS functionality, you can essentially do a "deep strikes" into enemy territory! Just send Karl Franz on a long expedition somewhere, while setting your army generals as elector counts, then press the button upon Karl's arrival, and have 14 armies (counting Karl himself) right in position to strike. Should make invading any other continent much more... interesting.

For the Nuln Ironsides, I think the most obvious way to implement the pistols would be as a rate of fire increase as the enemy formation gets closer. This would represent the Ironsides rifle volley and then switching to the pistol for a quick follow up volley before needing to reload.

Fun note, Belli is a word referring to Bellona who is the Roman Goddess of War, unlike Mars, Bellona was actually largely revered in Rome and was who you prayed to for luck in battle as she was fierce and not the one you wanted on the other side of your war. Mars was more about the concept of war as a whole and being a great Warrior as an individual, but Bellona the goddess of battle and victory what who you prayed to if you want to win the battle.

Fun Fact: Pigeon Bombs are actually based in reality fun enough! It was a project during WW2 where pigeons would pilot a plane full of bombs. It was called Prject Pigeon, and it's absolutely insane. The project was actually pretty succesful in it's testing stage, but to quote Skinner (Yes, that Skinner) "our problem was no one would take us seriously". Rather understandable.

My number one gripe about the Elector Counts system was how it made no sense when you played as Gelt that Karl Franz could decide to secede from his own damn empire. It hurt my brain so much. I'm so glad they've made these changes, but please, for any LL that may get access to the Elector Counts in future, don't make it so Franz forgets he's the Emperor and leaves in a huff because he's no longer loyal to himself. If anything there should be a way in which you, as another Elector Count, could usurp Franz, likely by gaining control of the majority of Elector Counts & some other objectives that ends in either rebellion against him or forcing him to abdicate or something.

It finally feels like they're really cooking with this game. I've never done an Empire campaign past like turn 20 (I am the abnormal), but I am sooo hype to play multiple Empire factions now.

My only remaining hope is that they adjust the gryphons to be more up to scratch with other monsters, but otherwise this looks pretty darn good. Knights of the Black Rose look fantastic, they feel like an understated but very nice addition to the roster.

I feel like the game is better keeping the asymmetrical set up. Empire has a lot of good stuff, their frontline just needs to hold long enough for the rest to do their job.

Wished they kept the repeater gun variant alongside the tabletop accurate ones they are going for. The regular rifles just make the Ironsides mostly just a better version of the Handgunners. However a repeater variant would allow for an interesting side grade, that trades accuracy and long-range effectiveness for high short range damage and suppression. I hope CA reconsiders having the repeaters as a second weapon variant for the Ironsides.

I am not sure Gelt's mechanic excites me half as much as Elspeth's or the Franz update. To me, one-time effects and faster access to heroes is not nearly as exciting as access to unique units and permanent stat upgrades, and now that he's moved out of the empire he doesn't get to recruit elector count units nearly as fast as he used to. I hope the dilemmas bring some special Cathayan spice to his faction, diplomatic bonuses with Zhao Ming besides.

I LOVE these new gunpowder units. I feel they will do a ton of work for a potential 40k frame in the future for the Imperial Guard. A lot can port over. But...but Gelt is probably my very favorite now. Wait, did you say Franz no longer gets trespass penalties? WTF? OMFG. I may ACTUALLY play the empire now!!!

Well I must say things are looking up for this DLC, and I'm honestly actually looking forward to what they have planned for the Dawi next week. I hope it is as good as the content for the Empire, as they are in desperate need of overhauling and a mechanic that gives them far more purpose than just wondering around the map playing whack-a-mole as the holy grudge book deems them to do. I really, really, hope for an Underway mechanic or something that directly relates to the Dawi rebuilding their lost empire, that would work wonders for them in terms of aligning with their themes and giving them an actual objective aside from paint the map and bonk people the grudge book says to bonk.

"Casus belli" it's a latin word (pronounce in english : "casus baylee") for "act of war" so any action which can be lead to a declaration of war. So in other word an "excuse"...

A question: If the knight of the white rose takes the spot of the non AP melee cav for the Empire Does that mans the knights panther are dead? What role will they have if they are added? Empire knights = Cheap shock cav Reiksguard = Shit Knights of mirmidia = Heavy damage dealer shock cav with extra magic damage Demigryphs = Expensive shock cav Demigryphs with halberds = Anti large melee cab Knights of the black rose = non ap melee cav Potentially in the future Knights of the white wolf = ap melee cav What about the knights panther?
