Hi Miss Trudy I have a nose piecing too and yes it takes six months or more for the piecing to heal depending on how well your body takes it, the reason being that the nose is all cartilage not a muscle. Secondly, because it's a cartilage, it seals very fast on it own if the nose ring comes off , even a day without the ring can seal it up starting from the bottom, that why it's difficult to push the ring back if u loose it over a period of time. So go ahead and get a new one and always keep the nose ring intact and last of all always clean it up with salt solution to aid the healing process.
