Being a glass welder I can tell you 3rd degree burns don't hurt right away, it takes about 30 seconds for the pain to kick in. The first thing youll notice after you touch it is somebody's cooking chicken somewhere nearby...but it's you that's cooking 😂

Gloves really depend on what you are doing. A hot splash of a liquid metal will eat through your glove, where it would likely bounce off your hand. Its ALOT harder to repair a burned hand that is more melted glove than skin.

I've had more mishaps with ovens over the years - steam and convection, getting too quickly into them and getting blasted. Steam burns are the worst.

Muscle memory will get you! Most of the burns I've gotten in the kitchen are from using an oven-safe pan in the oven and grabbing the handle just like I would do when using it on the stove!

And that's why gloves are important.

I ALWAYS stop grinders/brushes with a scrap piece of metal every time I shut the machine off so I don’t have to wait for it to stop spinning.

My left hand has a cool scar. Best reminder I have, from a still spinning grinder. It caught and kicked because I was more focused on the pipe I was cleaning than where I was swinging the grinder. I had latex, kevlar and leather gloves. It's still got me pretty good. Stay safe yall

Also never ever let the wire brush touch your clothing if its spinning, it just grabs onto fabric like vecro and in my case just barey missed my neck 😮 Oh and wear those safety glasses and hard hat while using a nail gun. This guy i knew legit had a 3in nail shoot out smack center of the forehead... thankfully he had the hat on and it stopped the nail 1/2" short of puncturing his head! And just please dont cheap out on using PPE, best practices standards and common sense. You'll look much smarter retiring at 65yo with both yours eyes and all your fingers 👌

Usually depends on the properties and how hot the thing gets. Hot glue guns and molten glass both can stick to your fingers, molten glass just works a lot faster at instantly burning your hand while hot glue guns, albeit colder than glass, stick to you and burn you that way.

I think maybe it has something to do with surface tension?

I laugh hysterically when I get a more severe injury. It's a really weird response.

I cuss up a storm over a paper cut but when I've had serious injuries like getting my finger blown out I'm silent and just thinking about what the next step to take is.

Aloe burn cream is also your best friend. Mainly for after care with bandage wrappings to keep it in, but if hospitals are too far away for travel time or hospitals are packed: Cold water as long as can stand it to access -> wash well/disinfect-> and depending on how the injury is with the burn/severity and if skin popped melted, severe injury burn cream as you wait to get checked out. Regardless this is for wait time until hospital can check you out as you NEED to go if able regardless, and only if educated enough about burns and how to treat it for *very* short term, and would need to tell the medical workers what you did for the injury.

Ive found the best way to treat burns is cover them up. No oxygen and it will be relatively pain free. This is why burn victims are always coverered up in bandages head to toe.

@@spencerkleiman5035 my soldering iron is a pencil tip is at 750-900F depending on what I'm using it on. I promise those temperatures cook you long before you feel it and it's usually days later until feeling starts to come back to that area.

I've been burned by both soldering irons and hot oil I work as a cook the oil burns annoy me more than the soldering iron but on a side story in my electronics class there was a kid who would just burn solder in the corner to huff the fumes. He thought he could get high off of them

Nothing to do with software. Digital camera sensors can't distinguish color, so a checkerboard array of red/green/blue filters is placed in front of the sensor pixels to remove all but the desired wavelengths on a given pixel. Most cameras have a separate infrared filter over all the pixels to remove that as much as possible, but it doesn't remove 100%. The red/green/blue filters remove a bit more infrared, but not the same amount. More infrared passes through the red and blue filters, hence the purple cast. You can see this if you point your phone camera at an infrared TV remote and push the buttons. This video may also be from a security camera, and those often don't have an infrared filter at all, since they also have to work at night, with a ring of infrared LEDs on the camera illuminating the room.

My sister is a metalworker. Two years ago at the summer sculpture program she goes to, a guy had a crucible full of molten iron tilt backwards onto him. THANKFULLY it only landed on his legs, but it was hot enough to burn through his leathers. I don't know the extent of his injuries at the time, but he's fine today. Must have been terrifying.

Soldering iron burn on my left wrist from putting my arm down on top of it. Was wearing leggings while soldering and dropped a big glob of solder on my leg, burned through my leggings. As someone who has blown glass and done this exact thing, the burns probably don't even reach 2nd degree. This is because of the leidenfrost effect. Its much safer to touch something that is 1500F than something that is 500F ironically.

The simplest way is when you splatter water onto a pan and the beads of water dance around instead of boiling and evaporating off? THAT is the leidenfrost effect. It only works if there is a barrier between the skin and hot surface at all times. Which is highly unlikely

@@angielala9453 Well, from what I learned and from what my friend the doctor says it's water. Plenty of water for at least 20 minutes. You have to stop the burning or it will continue to damage tissue for as long as it hurts. The only way to transport heat from the surface away is water (ice if you have but be careful not to freeze the area). Baking powder or corn meal will just act as an insulating layer and make it worse. ;)

The climbing intensifying pain over time is unreal with a serious burn. You don't think it could possibly hurt more, then 10 minutes later it is hurting more... Then you don't think it could possibly hurt more then it's just risen too, and again 10 minutes later the pain is still building... this goes on for hours/days on repeat. When you get the burn itself, it's not nearly as bad pain as the following hours and days. Those 99% water gel pads for burns are a lifesaver, I spent like 200$ on boxes and boxes of them for my hand, The only thing that really seemed to mitigate the burning sensation.

Ya it probably varies though by what is burnt or how deep. As a teen I welded pipe and cut pipe for by dad. I was torching 8 inch drill pipe and was rolling it after cutting half of it. As I rolled it my hand on the pipe rolled in front of the torch. I was wearing buck skin gloves so my wrist was badly burnt about the size of a silver dollar. Me being me thought this sucks. I put some neosporin and maybe some cloth with duck tape. Then I finished cutting metal for a few more hours. I would wear big bandaids in the day and let it air out at night. The skin was gone basically so I assume it was like second or third degree burn but idk. But I will say it took at least a month before any skin grew back. It took forever to heal out of any wound I had. Well I did crack some ribs when a wheeler landed on me and that actually took longer to heal I think but skin wound wise the torch burning took forever.
