Bags? Start walking. get a 20-30 liter bag and start carrying water for your walk. As you find yourself needing stuff, throw it in the bag. When you get to 30 plus miles a week, check out a larger pack and what can you carry. Then some weekend, pack that bag and carry it for 12 hours. How far did you get? Is your house secure from storms? Face it, storms damage more homes than zombies. I see so many homes with trees that can fall on them any time. What is growing in your yard? If you are a modern American you have decorative trees and shrubs. How about growing fruit trees and bushes, tend a grape vine, grow a nut tree and HAVE A GARDEN. Have a compost pile that is turned and watered regularly so that it is decomposed in a few weeks so it can go on the garden. Egg shells, coffee grounds, where are they going? in the compost. Know your neighbors. Help your neighbors. Convince them that things are uncertain (not zombies, riots, wars, just unstable) and they should have more than four days groceries in the house. Firearms, practice, clean your weapons. have ammo, find out what springs break or bend, and obtain a couple spare parts. practice a bit more. If you have time on your hands, start reloading. Blades, keep them sharp. Keep the handles and scales tight. My example, wife and I have been planting berry bushes, grapes, and fruit trees for a while. 14 fruit trees, 20 berry bushes, one grape vine, 1,700 square foot garden with vegetables, kitchen, medicinal and household herbs. We have some fruit fermenting now, it will get turned into vinegar. I helped my wife can about 12 quarts of fresh cherries over the weekend. I walk about a thousand miles a year, daily walking my dog while wearing a 20-27 pound pack. Wife and I took a neighbor to the range two weeks ago. Came home with a lot of brass to reload. Half way through reloading it all it tonight. I fidget sharpening my blades. I've helped neighbors clear snow, mow lawns, learn to shoot, and plant fruit. I've loaned my small generator out during a crisis. Small towns, county seats in flyover states, are great locations. Suburbs suck, cities are deadly. The county seats in flyover country, you have skilled trades, skilled professionals, banks, pharmacies, groceries. It might not be as convenient as the suburb, but they are good places to raise kids and take a stand. Be dependable, be the person that is wanted on a team, not because you are the strongest, the best shot, but because your word means something. It is easier to live in a neighborhood that is somewhat prepared than to have to turn away people in a crisis.

I bought radios it’s so hard to find help. I got my radio programed and still don’t hear shit, then I got grms and need to learn ! I also have walkie talkie so maybe I’ll get some help.

Love these videos saying bugout bags are stupid and assume people are walking into the trees to go at it alone with only the gear in their bag.. Evidently those types don’t know what planning ahead and caches are.. And likely have ZERO skills in building shelter, hunting, trapping and knowing their surroundings on what is edible and what isn’t .. I’m a fan of supporting small business. But tons of good gear can be bought on Amazon and often times for less money.. With the way the economy and inflation is it makes sense to buy gear where you can get it at the best price. If unable to tell junk between good gear that’s on you and lack of research.. Yes it’s stupid to go at it lone wolf. But each person you talk to about being prepared is just another target you put on your back. More times than not they aren’t going to listen and guess where they are going when it happens.. I don’t care how you talked to them, and they don’t know what you have. When they have nothing they will have an excellent assumption you have more than what they have. Power in numbers is a thing. However, the more people in your group the more infighting and less mobile you are. Thinking you can hold down a location indefinitely is ridiculous and you need to quit watching movies and playing video games. You’re not Rambo and it won’t be call of duty in real life. More firefights you are in your chance of survival goes down.. Children are different. But thinking you can prep for all your family and friends is utterly ridiculous unless you are filthy rich. One of my friends in the group I’m in doesn’t make a lot of money, but will be awesome to have in SHTF. He tries the rest of us try to take up the slack. He brings a lot to the table and won’t just a leach consuming supplies.. Biggest mistakes I see people making is worrying about tech BS and comfort way before basics are even squared away. To worried about having power, drones, gear that requires power and don’t even have a weeks worth of food or water.. Couldn’t build a shelter in the woods using the surroundings if they had to. Think they can hold up in their modern home thinking it’s bullet proof.. lol …. And my favorite. A bunch of people who have nothing are going to magically just come together and sing kumbaya at the campfire and work together..
