Today I'm going to be talking about all the mistakes I made with my genesis coupe! There have been quite a few actually and hopefully you guys will be able to learn from me so these things wont happen to you!

I don't have the coupe but I do have the 4door version and I love my car.. so yes I would have to agree with that person who said the only mistake I made is I didn't get it sooner.. hyundai is a good car.. coupe or sedan.. ijs.

Only mistake I made was turning traction control off and forgetting to turn it back on. (Then hitting black ice and scraping into a gaurd rail) Thankfully it's getting repairs done this week 👍🏻

Sameeee but for me it was loose gravel and sand on a sharp curve. Sent me spinning into some trees and totaled my shit. That was 7 years ago but I'm finally my back to the platform with a little more sense now. Glad yours was saved lol

This is why I *never* turn mine off on public roads. Almost every time I hear about someone crashing this car, it's beause the idiot driver turned TCS off. Keep your ride pristine by leaving it *ON.*

Be sure to change your oil twice as frequently as you’re used to... doing pulls so often

@@ozzierobles2417 it's the 2nd gen of the motors. Check out this dudes video on the difference of them. Definitely recommend trying to find a bk2 motor. They are 2013+ models.

You can use a gift card or something to slide in between the window and the seal to break the ice. It works great. I've done it many times

@ethanW and anyone else, i haven't read every single comment.... so, just going to add that silicone spray lube will keep your windows from freezing up in the top seal-channel as well a spray it on the door rubber. Do not use Vaseline, it accelerates breakdown in this type of rubber and neoprene. While doing this, I've never had my doors freeze on any of my vehicles.

That's what I like about Az. you drive up look at the snow and come back to Phoenix plus no road salt its banned in Arizona. Yeah on my 2.0T I don't even boost on it till it's warmed up after driving a couple of miles.

@@NFLbts Hi, I am still saving steadily every day. I started with investments in the financial markets with $50 dollars and today I have $4500. I plan to continue investing to achieve my goal, which is to have my own genesis. Here in my country that car costs between $15k to $18k. I am getting closer every day. Definitely when I have it I will upload a comment.

Rattling is not downpipes or anything breaking, it’s just how the Genesis sounds when you take of each set of catalytic converters. When I put test pipes it barely rattled but very unnoticeable, after I put headers it was and is more noticeable at like 2k-2.25k rpm and just that, then at WOT it’s just so very faintly a bit raspy. It just comes with having an open exhaust, nothing is wrong or broken, it didn’t happen when I had stock headers or secondary cats but as soon as I changed them I noticed it, got a new exhuast so I knew it wasn’t that either. I’ve triple checked all my mounts, clamps, gaskets, everything is 100% good, it’s just the noise the car makes at certain rev ranges, the SOLUTION: Get H pipe test pipes or get an H pipe somewhere on the exhaust, that is a known fix for the “rattle” metal raspy sound you hear after getting catless headers and test pipes

The k and n for the 2.0T actually seals around the hood and I piped the stock shroud into it. Running noticeably cooler temps

I bought a 2013 3.8L grand touring from Carmax a few months ago... long story short they sold me a car with a blown head gasket causing a coolant leak ultimately making the car run hot. Dealerships are sneaky!

I bought one and it had a computer malfunction which made the fan stop functioning making it overheat warranty fixed it tho

I live in Canada... The 2L with 0W20 will start cold in -35C if it absolutely has to... but those windows are simply gonna freeze up. There's no helping it for most of the winter. :/

Not sure if you’ve found out yet but the OEM downpipes are prone to failure at high mileage. Specifically the flex pipe. I would recommend you buy OEM downpipes. Many testers have proven that aftermarket downpipes, especially the Ark ones are too wide in diameter and actually rob you of power when NA. OEM or any you can find that are 2.25 inches is the best. Can see gains up to 10-15whp using OEM downpipes over aftermarket ones.

only mistake i made was buying the 2.0t premium trim and not the r spec or ultimate with LSD. the base model and premium trim comes with open diff and it’s ass :/

You want a little meat on you’re tire so I wouldn’t recommend dropping it, trust me I almost drag on the ground..lower the profile the more you’re race car becomes a wooden stage coach..sure those 5 spoke Einkles I have look sexy but they ride like 💩 one pot hole and I’m through.

I have 19s Einkel but the dam things ride like you’re on the rim only. Biggest mistake was putting coil overs on this thing, I’m stuck with this tire size.

Dude i drove a 3.8 And then drove a 2.0 and just fell in love with it And i got it. It’s literally the cleanest genesis in us With 8000 miles on it 2013 But u did help with some stuff Thanks👍

Bro i live in canada. I literally warm mine up for 10 mins straight. Wether its plus 5 or minus 15. I warm it up for 10 mins. If its -25c or below, i do 15. Then I drive normally for the first 5 mins. Yes mine was driven with firhawk indies in the worst canadian storm of 2022 2023 winter and it slipped and all but did great. Yes got winters now. To be fair the genesis coupes have (probably) the worst panel alignment out of the factory thats known of. When i picked mine up back in 2016 i thought it had been in an accident with only 17km on the ODO but rest assured its just poor hyundai quality (not to say that its impossible for it to have been in an accident) but it is definitely something to look out for when buying a genesis (bumpers are by far the worst)

Being in sport mode will always make your car short shift, look at your footage, get it in gear from D or just get it in gear in sport then put it back in D, my car does the same thing, never went past 6250 in sport but in Drive it’s gone up to 6750

Damn man i thought you were full of shit until i tested it myself and yeah you were right! For some reason sports mode never touched red line, while on the other hand regular D mode and shifting down gave me my fastest times ever and hit red line every single time. Its crazy what a difference 250 rpm can make because on my bk2 2.0 it shaved almost half a second compared to sports mode

P.S... The Ark downpipes are known for that rattle. It’s the flex pipe that’s on them. I’ve heard you could either get them taken out and replaced with pipe, or just do the “H pipe mod”. Basically just get a pipe welded in between them to stop the rattle

Use an OBD reader that lets you know when the engine has reached operating temperature.

the gennys have the oil temp gauge inside the middle interior dash.... once it hits 100-150 Fahrenheit youre good to roll! EDIT: sorry, i forgot to mention i have the turbo i4 engine, that one takes time to heat up and as most probably know the turbo doesnt work on too cold oil temperatures, if youre in the 3.8 its probably within a few minutes and youre good, oil doesnt have to be that hot for v6 engines. my 2.0t takes about 10-15 to warm up (15 in the winter weather)

For the 3.8 you want it to be 150+ oil temps, so roughly 15-20 minutes before you do anything, let not only the engine oil warm up but transmission and diff oil get up to temp for proper lubing and protection of the whole drivetrain, if not that’s how people mess up their car.

Did this happen to you, Driving 70mph and the car front end starts to vibrate even when you let of the gas but back to normal when it goes back to 65mph and below ? Got new tires and re balanced like 3-4 times in two months

Mistake I made was waiting 5k miles to change my oil and it burnt all of it away and it was running dry for a min and fucked the engine... but hey engine swap soon!!

The biggest mistake I've done with my Genesis was driving with TC off and lost control to the ditch! That was a 2010 2.0T fully modded! Car was totalled and now I'm getting a 2016 3.8 Ultimate!!!

Though i liked the facts i hated all the extra. You are great at delivering they hows and why's. Trim the fat or leave it for the end. Maybe make a short intro and an outro but three way it is makes the video hard to watch.

Time to stop saying "I'm not gonna lie" 86 times per video. It makes it seem as though you lie so much that it's necessary to preface it with that hackneyed phrase everytime you tell the truth. If that's the case, the only jobs you're qualified for is used car salesman or politician.
