You have to pass at the beginning of the run, or they’ll stop to not get too out of position.

trigger manual runs, double tap L1 and the player will make a run that doesnt stop, really useful

I found this too but depending on the formation you use and the custom tactics, you need either fast build up or long ball to make the run either to you or away, get into the box and get in behind and ALSO you need a high attacking work rate

It's called ea scripting I also notice same they will be in good position because I've manually switched and the minute I'm in position to intercept or tackle oh they suddenly run away from the player opponant can literally run in straight line straight past my defenders and they aren't doing skill moves or changing direction at last min literally my defenders move out the way and let them past or de highlight yet I can be through on goal n a defender suddenly appears n takes it off players boot at he's about to shoot or they will sit about 5 players in n around box and I can manually trigger player runs n oh they don't wanna make any runs so I then think OK il pass back as no way through so cheers neal but it's nonsense you can't beat ea scripting They decide who wins. You can also create like 20 odd chances n have like 17 shots on target and their gk can fly yet they can have 3 shots all game n they are all a goal. I literally played my friends profile who is 4 divisions higher than me and I was winning his games yet my profile I loose more than I win...we use same formation tactics and instructions n have simular players so it can't be explained logically other than ea deciding I'm in that division n staying there!

There’s so many factors, like how the servers were running, the time of day you played with your friend’s account, your sample size of playing on your friend’s account vs yours. The type of mindset you were in or amount of focus you had. If you manually switch a player into position, move off them, and the opponent is running at that player, that’s on you to switch back to that player and defend. The positioning may block a shot attempt but you can’t expect them to do your job. I know what you mean but why aren’t you manually defending the man on ball? Maybe the opponent outplayed you and triggered a run that forced AI movement. Second point, there’s literally no way you are triggering runs and the player is refusing to move. You sound impatient at the idea the run isn’t instant, or that you have to pass backwards if an option isn’t immediately present. Third, shot on target doesn’t mean a thing. You could blast long shots at a keeper all game and get more SOG than the opponent. The quality of the chances are much more important. Also factor in the fact that some players move the keeper. This comment reeks of confirmation bias. EA and their servers have a lot of stuff that is going on and hurting overall gameplay. But discouraging players from practicing what Neal is teaching, then passing gaps in your ability off as a major video game developer having a personal bone to pick with you is lazy.

@@wassimsoldat I’ve played a few hundred games. If anything just double tap the triggered run while facing the player to be safe it takes almost no extra time at all.

If manual defending or anything else were viable more, people would have played it, but instead they nerfed defending so hard in general. I have been and still manually defending but its not rewarding at all that much, in fact you get punished for manually defending by all of those rebounds. With the headers nerf + rebounds buff + AI defense nerf + manual defense nerf + through balls buff, people who want to have the most value will need to dropback with low depth 1-3 and block shots, there is no other viable option cause EA left none.

@@marktracey1095 what seems to happen is you score an early goal and then they pause the game to change to 1 depth . if people couldn't change tactics in game a lot of people would be shit at fifa

And thats exactly what i mean they can change gameplan and frustrate you at any moment. You're right people would be bad if they couldn't do it, it really does bridge the skill gap making it less fun for those who are better

@@Nan363eo the main con of these formation is playing against pacy players. And 99 percent of players are using pacy wingers. So i wouldn't recommend it for anyone. Unless maybe he's an expert at using these formations. Maybe like you actually 😉

@@R2Finesse Bro the point of these formations are that you set your wingers to drop back and defend, so you get 5 defenders. might as well use 5-3-2 and attack with the left backs/right backs

Defend through cdms, i have dejong as drop between defenders... one its difficult to counter attack me as my cdm is always there where i want him to be... 2nd once i do hold opponents a bit valverde also comes back with some artillery (greizman and portu as come back on defense).... now my opponent needs to pass my cdms as i never take control of CBs even sometimes i do not control even my FBs....i do every single defense through my cdms.... once they are beaten which they will be i don't move my back 4 from their positions till i see that i can tackle my opponents player.... in this way i have never conceded more than 3 goals in all of my matches.... be patient dont rush towards your opponent... tackle when absolutely necessary otherwise intercept passes....

@@Sarioneo bro usually i start with my fav 4231 wide, have defense and attack on balanced then if my opponent is destroying me which happens sometimes, i change to 41212 narrow where hazard goes to cam position,portu and valverde as CMs and de Jong as drop between defenders or 4321....

I'm having exactly the same problem and it's so annoying. The other player can run in a straight line at my player from ten yards away and take the ball easily, yet every single one of my tackles misses even when I think I've timed it well.

Learn to use different skillmoves in different scenario’s (Meaning when to use wich skillmove)

I play the same formation. What I recommend is to make fullbacks make overlapping runs this will make you create more chances on the wider areas of the pitch. Thus, it will make your offensive playstyle more fluid than the obvious chance creations in the central areas between your strikers in the pitch.

It's funny that you get gold 1without knowing this making runs things while much more skilled players struggle for gold 3...

I feel you.... The game is not about the passing game but who can do the most skills. there are so many skill moves that are undefendable. I am not a bad fifa player myself but I do not do the skill moves and I loose every time to someone who is raping his analog stick for the tricks and then scores... :(
