What media are you using in the blasting cabinet? And is that just regular vinyl decal material? Ive made the lettering on headstones the same way, but I used a 1/16" rubber template with the letters cut out, will vinyl work just as well with a finer media? Great work! Very impressive finished product!

Fast day..if you have at least $80,000 for a computer signware. ..HOWEVER...it's more incredible to watch a sign mechanic do it all by hand, as I started out 55 years ago til retirement. Yes ALL WORK ONCE IN MY DAY WAS DONE BY HAND..INCLUDING HAND DRAWN "POUNCE" PATTERN"

@manlymcstud85883 жыл бұрын
i mean, the result is beautiful, but where's the art exactly? don't get me wrong, it's a great looking piece and requires being proficient in several processes, but i just don't see the 'art' in it knowing that the designs essentially comes from templates. skill? oh, sure. art, though? hm, i have to question that. again, i'm not trying to take anything away from the people, process, or fantastic end result, but i won't gush and goo over what really is by professional gilded glass sign making standards pretty basic.

OMGOODNESS, I want to do this sooooooo badly! I watched one of your videos last night for the first time and I spent the rest of the night learning how to glue chip, and how to scallop the edges of glass! This art is amazing and just enough steps to keep me interested in it! The beauty of your pieces is amazing! Thank you for filming! I cant wait to do my own much smaller pieces! Perhaps my name to start.

if i wasn't already waiting on a tufting gun to make rugs with, i would be looking into this for sure. the only thing that i would balk at is i don't know coreldraw or illustrator, have a plotter, or a sandblasting set-up. other than that it's just a lot of smaller tasks. having worked in high-pressure factories before, the little jobs themselves don't impress me super-much because i've been in situations where you get your act together fast or you don't have a job tomorrow, and i've owned a trophy/t-shirt shop so i have some familiarity with the equipment and weeding process. i've used vinyl as stencils to armour etch class before, which is simple. if the ex moves to another state like she said she wants to or she just won't help me out (she still has the business), i'll find someone else to subcontract that out to and come up with a design i can sell over and over again to reduce design costs. i'm sure a simple inquiry on FB could find me someone who does sand blasting, that's just the kind of people i know. i probably watched the same videos you did and priced some stuff out, lol. good luck!

WOW, it's amazing work and craftmanship, I've seen these works around but never until now did I apricate the amount of pure craftmanship. patients and time it requires. truly inspirational. one thing I'm not clear on however is the purpose of the glue process, ill have to watch again because I must have missed something but the cracking of the glue is pretty neat none the less. Thanks for sharing this, it's fascinating to say the least.

I'm in awe of all the various arts involved in this process. I'm assuming it's first rendered on some kind of screen design software? I can't imagine how much time goes into this kind of project. 4-5 days? Definitely don't have to worry about anyone taking your job sir. Nice work.
@manlymcstud85883 жыл бұрын
the company would have a higher end vinyl cutter/plotter that likely uses coreldraw or illustrator because those are vector based, as opposed to photoshop that's pixel based. a lot of these fonts and decorative pieces are easy to get. the jaguar plotter the ex got for our trophy/t-shirt shop was about $3K if i remember right, but that's what you'd want for a commercial daily user. you wouldn't need that fancy of one for something you only used now and then. you could pick up an uscutter probably for about $500 or so that does the job, just slower -- and a lot louder, lol -- and with the low-level detail for projects like this. (you get what you pay for, so something like the jaguar is more precise time and time again, but we started off with a refurbed uscutter many years ago and it was great until we outgrew it.) beyond the computer design none of these tasks seem particularly difficult, but some seem time-consuming. getting the glue chipping sped up will still take at least two days judging from other videos i've seen on it. lining vinyl up is a pain in the ass sometimes, lol, but not like it takes all day. running a knife around the whole design once the hide glue has gelled looks like it would take awhile. i'm just guessing that, computer and drying times aside, there's probably a good two days of solid work involved barring some process they're not showing and there's no dilly-dallying, but i could see three as being reasonable, too. in real life you set the tool down and it's gone three seconds later and you're like, 'hey, where's my glass scalloping doo-dad thingy?!' or, 'damnit, why can't i line stuff up for shit today?'
