Yep, what he didn't like was companies exploiting his image for profit. While this wasn't Fred Rogers kind of humour he was cool with it. I think Eddie Murphy has a picture of them together.

I can tell watching marlon Wayans and Martin Lawrence they were def inspired by Eddie. They do them Eddie facial expressions and his voice. I seeing alot of Martin show and Wayans bros to see that those two were inspired by Eddie.

Even after 40 something years, it never gets old. Every time he makes those faces when the landlord knocks, and when he yells "WHO IS IT?" I still laugh my ass off. Eddie Murphy ruled SNL.

Fred Rogers said of all the parodies he saw of himself and the show, Eddie’s was by far his favorite. He felt it was done with affection and not the mean spiritedness of many of the others.
