Human Defense Mechanisms explained with examples - The Simplest Explanation Ever
Why do people get defensive time and again? What do we actually direct towards when we refer to defensiveness? Where do defense mechanisms come from?
These and some more questions will be explained as we look at the contributions of Psychoanalyst Anna Freud to the field of psychology and defense mechanisms. We use examples to understand concepts along the way.

You're most welcome, my dear. I am sure you've come across people who could demonstrate these defenses. It's rather unfortunate though. Some traumas can dent the mind in really bad ways.

Hello buddy. I have already done a tutorial on behaviourism, which starts off with Watson's mention. Please check that out, as you may find it useful. I will consider elaborating on Watson's work in a future lecture for sure. Link: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gbx4iLNeyKu5cps.html

Very true. It's really important for everyone to learn about defense mechanisms. Understanding the human psyche in general, and defense mechanisms in particular is critical to understanding other people and doing well in life.

Ahh, I would like to ask again about, if it's possible to uses xanax to overcome anxiety? and if it's possible, what kind of defense mechanism it is?
@MisterSimplify
@MisterSimplify 3 ай бұрын
Hello! Xanax is often used to combat anxiety. But it's highly recommended that a patient undergoes a thorough medical screening before this is prescribed. It should never be consumed without a prescription. In terms of anxiety, defense mechanisms are used to overcome anxiety, or to protect oneself from anxiety. And depending on the type of anxiety, one can develop a number of types of defenses.

@@MisterSimplify Actually on some of websites , I read that denial, displacement, identification, and rationalization are also her points of the theory, but somewhere I read only these 10 points which you explained in video, please assist me. I need them for my research project. Just tell me only these 10 points are her contribution which you explained?
@MisterSimplify
@MisterSimplify 3 ай бұрын
@@jawairiaKHello! I would suggest that you refer to these 10 and elaborate on them using multiple examples. The literature on defense mechanisms is vast. A lot of contributors came up with loads of them. So my advise would be to stick with these for now, and expand on your search only if you have time.
