David, that is by far the best rendition of that song in all the renditions I have heard. You should be proud of that moment. I listen to it frequently and I think it was those songs that were calling to you then and probably still are. Rock on!

How come ( thanks to Dermot O`leary playing `Blackbirds` on his BBC RADIO 2 show, yesterday 12-July 2014 ) it`s taken nearly 20 years for us to hear such a beautiful voice. I loved this song when I was a kid, just on its merits as a piece of music; of course I had no appreciation of the pathos in the lyrics. Dorothy Moore is from my hometown of Jackson, Mississippi. I'm sure she loves this performance as much as I do. The pain and anguish in the lyrics really comes through. This is heart-melting!

I watched this live in 1996 on Jools Holland's Later. I thought your performance was magic. Listening here again brings back memories of good days and bad days in London. I was young, foreign, lonely, and fearless. Music saved me. Thank you for uploading. Raw emotion here.

i have been watching jools hollands show for years and tried to find this so many times i thought it was unavailable. I watched it on the actual night and thought it was brilliant then but even more so now. Ocassionally this shows throws up some fantastic performances which in my opinion are just as good if not better than the original, see mick hucknal sing positively 4th street,amazing. I never tire of listening to this version its sang with so much feeling and talent.

I can remember hearing this the first time way back in the early 70's and Dorothy Moores version was just plain lovely. To hear and see your interpretation is a real joy, you somehow retain all the magic of the original and add something tool. Wow 1995, where did the time go? Am looking forward to the new cd too...
