Taehyung did not get placed anywhere. He applied to join special forces since he wanted to push himself and grow. He had to pass mental tests and physical ones to even gain a place on the training course which are extremely limited yet got in so he was obviously ready for it and look how well he's done. He knew what he was doing plus his Wooga squad friend had been part o the special forces so he knew what to expect. However I agree they should have been exempt for all they achieved and the revenue they brought in for Koream

I agree! I worry every day like they are my own family! I think it was a serious mistake to not give them exemptions for many reasons!

Re Tae: Tae ended up as Military Policemen in the Second Corps headquarters. Yes, the headquarters is located on the front lines, but really his position is in a unit that supports those soldiers who do the actual fighting. Jin and Hobi are similarly posted as trainers of conscripts in a division headquarters located in the frontline.

Exactly. They also wanted to go, I do think since it compulsory it should be for all able-bodied men of their country tho. I don't know why people are still complaining, when it is what it is and they're already serving so they need to just get over it.

What many people fail to accept is that they had a choice where to go in the military. Jin and Hobi chose a knowingly difficult task which involves getting up earlier and going to bed later, training the new recruits including going on the march every turnaround of recruits. It is a difficult role and one only those in the top 5% can apply for. Tae chose a hard unit because he wanted to challenge himself. He knew what to expect as his friends who also served in the special forces would have specifically told him everything. In other words he knew where he would likely end up as Park Hyung Sik also served there. It is said that both Jimin and Jungkook chose the artillery again possibly wanting to challenge themselves. I am not sure with Namjoon being in the infantry but I imagine again it was his choice or is he in the intelligence unit of the base, because if he was they would probably not tell us. All are on the border and apart from Jin and J Hope who are trainers will be involved in border patrols. It is more mountainous where Namjoon and Tae are and I am not sure if the military police do border patrols as such, not enough information on that but considering South Korea is 80% mountainous it is not surprising where they are posted as the southern parts of Korea’s bases I heard were where the recruits from those areas are posted and Seoul based recruits are normally sent to the border areas as literally Seoul is only approximately 50 km from the border. I recently went to the DMZ, closer to where Jin and the boys are stationed and it’s also far from flat either, basically only the coast line around Korea is less mountainous. BTS are not young boys anymore they are grown men who make their own decisions. They chose to enlist and not fight for exemptions and chose their positions in the military so let us wish them good health and remember as far as fitness and resilience is concerned they were already far superior than most recruits who are working beside them. As young men brought up in Korea they have always known this would happen and would see it as their duty, no matter what anyone says and is also a matter of pride for them and all young men in the military. We may not understand it but at least we can do is respect the decision they made and as there is no turning back now just support them with positive vibes and messages and wait patiently for their return because as the saying goes there is no point crying over spilt milk. We all are aware that NO one deserved exemptions more than they did but would they have accepted them, only they know the truth of that but I would think they would not have.

In fact, it was politicians and bureaucrats that were using the BTS name in their bills. I do not think that the BTS members had anything to do with the political games of the past few years. They had planned on a huge concert tour in 2020, followed by immediate enlistment. C19 altered and delayed their enlistment entry plans, not any desire to avoid service. Many in the West cannot comprehend what it means in South Korea to be a man that didn't serve. A lack of service has a very negative perception that affects all parts of your life, for the rest of your life, including the lives of your family, your chosen partner, and your children. The seven members of BTS are well seasoned in their global travels and acting as ambassadors. With the additional maturity of experiences and years, it's not surprising that most of them have reached leadership positions over fellow recruits. They are also in the peak of physical conditioning after KPop training for more than a decade. Being older than most recruits won't be a factor for them to individually meet the physical requirements. Even though SUGA was disqualified from the 18 months of regular military service duties because of his shoulder; he's still doing an alternate service, for an even longer time of 20 months, and he will still eventually get the buzz cut when he completes the mandatory military training that even the alternate service members have to complete. We all hope that the seven members stay healthy, injury free, and safe, of course. But BTS ARMY needs to stop treating these mature men as helpless kids. As far as Jin and J Hope are concerned their positions as trainers is known to be extremely hard and it is not a position that anyone can have. There is a selection process and interviews and candidates for those positions must have passed in the top5% of their training unit. We know that Jin was the top trainee and J Hope was obviously in the top 5% as well. If you consider 29-30 yrs old you must be very 0:02 young and if not you are aging before your time. Jungkook is said to have chosen artillery because of his fascination with large weapons and where Jungkook goes Jimin will as well as companion soldiers. I have just spent 6 weeks travelling all around Korea and meeting many Korean people and learnt more about their views and outlook. The young men don’t want to do the service and most cry on entry as they are leaving their loved ones behind but they do it not only because it’s mandatory but also they know the reason for it is to protect their loved ones and country. What you are doing is denigrating our wonderful BTS for doing what they expected and were willing to do. There are two types of military police, one looks after the base and searches for those that have absconded and the Special Forces Military police whose duties are different, they are there to support the men on the frontline and difficult situations and are trained for that. I guess you must be a K Drama fan. Every nation in the world has their own way of doing things and have certain things that are very cultural. Korea is a country that has been invaded by other nations so many times over the last few centuries. China, Mongolia and Japan and not forgetting the South was invaded by the North in the early 1950’s. They have a strong urge for self preservation and protection and they have just cause to. Maybe some dwelling into their history may help you to see that young Korean men do their military service because of these feelings and even though they may not wish to be in the military they see it as their national duty and desire to be ready to protect loved ones and their country if war breaks out. They may be outnumbered by the North Koreans as far as military personnel is concerned 1,200,000 to 600,00 but they vastly outnumber the North Koreans in reserve by having 3,000,000 men ready, trained and willing to fight if necessary.

The truth is I never heard of any of the other groups until after I became a fan of BTS. I imagine they have new fans because of BTS.
