This is great. It also made me rethink my RAS Miter saw station. 1 - It made me realize I don't need it as long as I was originally thinking. 2 - It also reminds me that I could never afford that plywood, but I can still make it work. I always end up building my shop tables and such out of 2x4's. However, I love watching others build these amazing pieces of shop furniture. Just because mine won't be as fancy, I still learn what to add or take away from my design to maximize functionality. Thank you again for another great video.

I was building a new router table this weekend, and I was nearly done and routing out the inset for the router plate in a really-sweet looking laminated top. I was using a plunge router base, and after I was done, I hit the lever to un-plunge the router and I set the router down on the table as it was still spinning down. Unfortunately, the router didn't completely retract and when I put the router down it made a huge gouge in my nice new laminated top. My first thought was about quitting woodworking and getting a new hobby, but then I thought of the moment at 5:33 where you set the spinning router down on your miter saw station top, and I recalled someone saying the real skill in woodworking is learning to fix or hide your mistakes. I've decided to relocate where I'm putting the miter/t-track on the router table so I can remove the damage with a dado. In the end, no one will know except me, unless they ask about the positioning of the miter track...

Good build process and explanation. A simply solution I used when I screwed up (the underside) of a butcher block countertop like you did: Look at the gouge, think of a neat design that you could route/chisel yourself, then route/chisel your desired design/shape, fill with tinted epoxy, sand, finish, be happy. :D

I just discovered your channel and it's my new favorite wood working channel. And because knowledge is power and you have taught me a lot already, I figured I'd share a useful tip with you: If you do happen to strip out your Tapcon holes, you can easily fix it, and you honestly dob't need a Tapcon screw to do it, you can even use wood screws, even for mounting/attaching things to a cinder or cement wall. Just keep some strands of jacketed wire of various gauges in your tool arsenal and when this happens again, just shove a length of wire in the hole that gives the screw something to bite to. Works great! I can't take this credit though, I learned it from Next Level Carpentry's channel. If you're not aware of his channel, check it out, he's a wealth of great knowledge.

I have been picking away at building 2 6 foot sections of workbench in my garage based on your design here, and made a similar mistake to your gouge in the top. I was using the flush trim bit to make it flat, and the little wheel at the top of the bit just... came off. And I took a gouge out of the top. Great video. Hi quality build and hi quality cam work and editing. Thanks. The cheap snack containers for nuts and bolts are a great idea. Three suggestions would be to (1) use square containers instead of round to maximize your space, (2) use color coded labels to group hardware of the same size, and (3) put the labels on tops of the containers (not the sides) so the labels are all visible when you open the drawer.

I have similar drawer pulls. They catch on my pants and hammer loops EVERY time I walk past them. Need to spend $$$$ to replace them. Anyone else???

Your concern about the water in the glue warping your benchtop is well founded. I added too much glue to a layers MDF + plywood workbench top I made last year and the whole thing has cupped slightly upward and has no good flat surface now. Eventually I'm going to have to remake the whole thing, to the tune of a couple hundred dollars probably 🤦🏻‍♂

Nobody but nobody addresses the issue of shop dust covering the French cleat items. Cabinets with sliding doors will solve the problem. Use lexan for visibility. Your thoughts. Better yet build one and make the video!!!! Thx

You would sell a lot more plans if you sold them in metric too lol. I just went to buy them but I don't want to try to learn imperial and build at the same time lol.

I don't have enough demand for metric and I would have to pay double the price to have my plans in both measurements. Not worth the cost yet. Sorry.

Superb quality throughout, easy to assemble. I found the saw to be highly accurate and a delight to use (I am a homeowner using this saw for various projects). I attached the saw to a folding mobile stand to save space and that works great kzfaq.infoUgkxPeGkHOMe05FySypTOvYumxMn-xi39oRe as well. However, you have to be sure the saw is securely locking in position before collapsing the stand. I've had many of the brands over the years and have come to point where I only buy Bosch, the extra money is a small price to pay for the quality and ease of use. Treat yourself to the best.

Why cut the height of the saw table just lower if you were gonna use cards to shim for the height difference? That makes absolutely no sense. Had you just made the height difference the exact amount you wouldn't have had to do that!

Great video! Except for the annoying background "music" which adds nothing and wastes your time. It sounds like the neighbors are listening to awful "music" too loudly. Very annoying and amateurish! Other than that incredibly annoying thing, everything was GREAT!
