The explaining why part is really cool, I wish more teachers would understand that nuance so I don't just feel like I am doing things for a grade/diploma.

Natural and passionate teachers have been using TPS instinctively much much before we created this terminology explicitly. Well this explicit strategy is necessary who choose teaching as a profession rather than a passion.

I really like lectures. It is the best way I have found to learn. I think there is an important role for the student to be focused and pay attention to the lecture.

It's incredible, that thos "Teacher" don't understood that not all the learning is the same, you can not teach in the same way Mathematis, Art or Literature, Active Learbning is long ago into the structure of the Mathematics, in the exercises section, but always is a individual experience, it's very different to learn a social discipline.

F active learning. This is an absolute tyranny in education at this stage. For all the box-ticking re inclusivity, if you learn best by going to read the material on your own and/or taking notes during lectures, tough luck for you. No, you need to roleplay and jump around like an idiot and "get to know" people you don't care about and will never see again.
