I had sepsis and was in hospital 3 months. This led to diagnosis of mitra valve regurgitation. I was too sick for open heart and the surgeon put 2 clips in the mitra valve. That was Oct. 19, 2017. I had a complete recovery and resumed swimming half hour work outs in summer of 2018. I am a female, 81 years old.

For those who are mocking this person... And saying that he should "thank the doctors instead of god" note that this condition here the mitral prolapse doesn't have any definite treatment except for surgery... And if you chose to live with the condition you have to take life long medications and strict lifestyle modifications.... And so if the person really was cured from it without surgery (and note that surgery is full of complications and life long treatment too) then this person was really cured by God's mercy... Iam still a med student though so may be the knowledge we are taught is not complete... But still... We shouldn't be arrogant... Medicine is such a great profession... As it shows us the greatness of God's design... And reminds us of the limitations of human knowledge... There are too many things we as doctors cannot cure... And bearly improve the symptoms... And WE pray to god that the intervention we chose can help the patients... So be humble and try to learn instead of the transgression on the devine.... For the one who made the first comment iam too happy for you... I hope you the best and a happy healthy life...

That1unimpressed Alien it’s possible that megadosing vitamin B one could be helpful. Check out Elliot Overton‘s interview with Dr. Chandler Marrs. She call wrote a book on vitamin B one deficiency with Dr. Derek Lonsdale. Elliot also has other videos he’s put together diving deeper into vitamin B one deficiency. Turns out it’s a pretty common thing in our high carbohydrate diets among other precipitating factors like trauma and medication.

There is no specific order. They are all seperate diseases. You can have anyone of these and yet none of the other. But more than likely if you have stenosis or prolapse you will have associated regurgitation. You can have small amounts of regurgitation and still have normal valves. In fact most people will have some sort of regurgitation.

Josh Cohen, I was diagnosed with Mitral valve prolapse at 20 yrs old. Ill be 50 in Fed and have had serious heart miss beats that causes loss of breath. Iv e been on different meds and feel that these have caused more harm than good and wondered why surgery was never offered since valve replacements are common. Now an Emergency doctor told me I have CHF and Im very angry since the feeling Im getting from the symptoms feels more like A Fib. Im not getting help with any of my doctors and my legs are edema and purplish with swelling in the abdomen area. Im in the Monroe, LA area and my doctor is in Garland, Tx. Im looking for a new doctor because Im on lisinopril/hctz 20:25 mg, amlodipine 10 mg, and bystolic 10 mg. The lisinopril and amlodipine are causing me gut, leg and kidney problems.

I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse at 15, I'm now 32. Anytime I bring it up to my doctor about a referral to a cardiologist for a check up, I feel as if they're blowing me off. I've continuously felt palpitations, sob, as ridiculous as it might sound, my vains hurt, and also there are times my palpitations hurt so bad- as if an air bubble is stuck in my heart. I feel that I need some help- but when they reply- oh you grow out of it, they make me feel as if I'm over exaggerating when I know I'm not.

I truly believe that there are not enough studies regarding this condition. I discovered mine in 2012 and honestly, my doc tells me that I shouldn't worry, yet she put me on beta blockers and I have moments when I feel absolutely horrible. My regurgitation is mild, she said nothing about the prolapse, yet she did write that the movements of the mitral valve are ample. It does mean that it's in prolapse, right? How do I prevent it from giving me severe regurgitation? This condition is scary and the sudden death thing is even more horrific. Can't doctors help us more, rather thatn just give us meds to mask this condition? Because beta blockers only mask it, the prolapse is still there and it's preventing us from living normal lives. Plus, my doc told me that I might have it since birth, yet a yer ago she discovered tricuspid regurgitation too, and that valve has ample movements as well. I am scared out of my mind, to have two valves in prolapse...!
@sweepy90
@sweepy90 9 жыл бұрын
Alexandra Zeres if they did not say nothing about a prolapse that means you do not have a prolapsed valve. Typically they see this and report it. If you just have mild regurgitation is better to stay calm and try to live your life normal. I also have trivial / mild regurgitation. Its been a month from wen I got this diagnose and I know what you feel. Usually trivial / mild regurgitation do not progress.

+sweepy90 but People with severe regurgitation has been living with /Trivial , Mild And moderate level before getting severe so it's actually progress I'm 17 years old healthy guy idk where did i get it from, Honestly i was shocked as heck How cud iget this disease in this age while my family has not any thing about heart disease history. I dont feel anything except that sometimes i feel like i cant get a statisfying oxygen while im doing smth and i need to take a deep breath to compinsate it. And sometimes i feel like im breathing very well. I dont know but it's so horrfic to get this thing in this age and yeah also my heart beats at first was more likley 90~100 At Rest state Now it's like 65~80 I hope there is a force cud heal the valve back cause everytime i do something this thing always come up in my mind which distract me always and make me feel sad.
@ahmedkamel90
@ahmedkamel90 8 жыл бұрын
+Alexandra Zeres As long as you have regurgiation you must have the propalse cause Actually propalse means that the valve does not close tightly which there are some blood flow backwards which means regurgitation. Im sorry to tell you that but propalse isn't a big deal the regurgiation thing is the thing that affecting your daily life if you have that symptoms.
@Thatnonpopularkid
@Thatnonpopularkid 8 жыл бұрын
If they know you have it then they should be monitoring you. Receiving follow ups every few years. They usually cannot due surgery to replace a valve until it is graded as severe. Sudden death will occur from a ruptured papillary muscle causing sever acute (immediate) mitral prolapse and.regurgitation. This is typically only caused from a previous heart attack.

+Alexandra Zeres mine was discovered in 2009. and I truly believe in what you say that "I truly believe that there are not enough studies regarding this condition". Doctors tell us nothing to worry but they don't understand what goes with us. With most of MVP patients, life becomes so challenging and difficult. Symptoms are many and solutions are just fluke...nothing really work for sure..Since a month I'm going through severe symptoms but cardiologist appointment still not given as they consider me a normal person and priority is given to other heart patient :(

Don’t stress you are beautiful and will be fine. Find ways to relieve your stress like deep breathing, yoga, light working out. Also do a lot of research on how what vitamins to take and what foods to eat. Cut out all the unhealthy habits. It is normal and most people have some form of regurgitation. When it is mild to severe then you need to have a real conversation with good doctors on what you will need to do. All I can say is don’t stress, and don’t worry- it will only make things worse. And do a lot of research, knowledge and information is key !

I was diagnosed with MV'Disease a year ago. *Regurgitation & Stenosis* it was *Mild to Moderate* but now it's *Severe* & too late to operate. I just don't understand why they leave checkups & repeat tests for so long? *(6 mnths - 1 year)* When *So* much can change within a year!! & unfortunately in my case it changed to the point of being too severe to operate. *It just doesn't make sense why it was left for so long that it's now it's too late to do anything for me?!*

I had scarlet fever as a child and was diagnosed with a heart murmur about 20 years ago, but only diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse after an extensive work-up this summer. I am 68, have no pain or shortness of breath and work out faithfully; no weight problem. The doctor was astounded that, as bad of shape as the flaps were, I had had no pain or shortness of breath. Keeping an eye on it with regular check-ups. Praying that a good, active lifestyle is keeping it in check; no telling how long it has been like this!

Isn't this "MVP syndrome" COMPLETELY psychological in origin? These symptoms look like an ordinary (or even iatrogenic!) anxiety disorder and not like cardiac problems. I had similar symptoms (palpitations, strange pains, PACs), my doctors prescribed me Propranolol and next day (on it) I almost collapsed when running upstairs, my HR was 90..100 and no more. This experience was so terrible that I have no symptoms at all since that day. Also they recommemded me to exclude all physical activity more intensive than walking... simply to make me more anxious and to get more money from me. Now I can run 10000 in 35:00 and 42195 in about 3 hours... and they are searching for a new victim...

No... MVP Syndrome is not all mental..... If the heart vavles are not working correctly, it can very likely effect many other systems of the body due to reduced oxygenaged blood flowing properly.

I can honestly say at I've been feeling these symptoms from an early age. Way before I was old enough to know anything about human anatomy. Finally diagnosed with this MVP, and till this day I've been told it's mild and I'll grow out of it. Yet, there are times my palpitations are extremely painful and these strange "vain pains" can make me feel debilitated. If it's mental, why do I still feel them when I've wished them and prayed for them to go away.
