As a Montero owner, what they are referring to is the fact you need to stay on the throttle in order to let the traction control system work. Thus, they are correct when saying the driver needs to do better (notice when the Pajero driver would start gaining momentum, he would take his foot off the gas-neither of the other two drivers did that).

What they are referring to is the fact that the drivers do not get optimum use out of the Pajero's traction control. It is a matter of knowing how to use the tool you are working with.

For every brand the driver is the problem. Go look at videos where Toyota is not making it look easy, and the driver is the problem. Go look at videos where Land Rover is not making it look easy, and the driver is the problem if you look at the comments. All of these use brake based traction control to do this trick. The Paj traction control is not bad, it was among the best, as well as Toyota. Of course there is a lot variation between years and models, and indeed drivers too. Depending how the traction control is setup, it may require certain type of driving style to perform optimally.

Yeah also they should have done a blind test meaning the other drivers would not observe on how they maneuver on the terrain..

Prado was lifting its wheels despite taking easier line, by other words it wasn't because of suspension travel (that is only few tens of millimeters better). Remove the ABS fuse of the Prado and it would have massive trouble getting over that without traction control, by other words it was using TC as well.

Ummm, they don't have a rear diff lock. They have a central diff lock that operates on both front and rear diffs once engaged into 4 high or 4 low.

I have a factory rear diff lock....as do must gen 4's

@@kbr3096 I think both are good. The Pajero consumption is for sure higher: 13%. But the Pajero is bigger and you can care your camping gear better.
