what is so impressive is that he is talking to the camera but he still didn't lose his count of the music. That's crazy

Not that crazy, after a while you don't really count that much you just feel the music and know which bar it's at.

@@djTLMtv Hey TLM ive just ordered my first Controller a Numark Party Mix and im just wondering when dealing with songs with intros would it be better to place a hot cue where the beat starts, or just use the jogwheel to hold that position and throw it in?
@WesKingpriaghosts
@WesKingpriaghosts 5 жыл бұрын
Reaktor I’m not TLM but I can answer you. It depends on the mix you are trying to pull off. If you find some fantastic mix that requires you to be fast w it than you should make yourself a hot cue. If it doesn’t matter than just find the first beat of the drum after the intro. It’s really up to what you are trying to do. If I’m free styling I’ve noticed that I will just find it and hit the pause button on that first beat.

Man i dont even know where to begin. All I can say is that all your tutorial videos are easy to follow along through and i appreciate that you are thorough in explaining why the technique or form has to be that way. This video has helped it all come together and i say why timing is key in transitions. Gonna be practicing this till i get it down and mastered. Thanks Again man.

@DJ TLM I know I’m super late, but I had to say I’ve been learning a ton from you. This was, for me at least, the most informative and growth inducing video I’ve watched on KZfaq. I knew how to count beats, bars, ect. I knew the theory of beat matching and while I haven’t mastered it yet, I’ve been practicing for a while. However, this was the first time anyone has ever broken down the intro and how it can help or hurt you. Definitely leave this series and video up as I’m sure it will help others and I will definitely reference it again to improve my skill level! Thank you for the knowledge sincerely!

Probably one of the best channels for explaining mixing etc. Im oldskool so still only use my Technics 1210’s with a standard mixer. I’m yet to use cdj’s or for that matter anything digital. I would like to get a more advanced mixer and link it up to a laptop but imo there’s nothing like doing everything manually. I get why digital can help etc and in some ways improve stuff but I just can’t see the fun in hitting a sync button etc, there’s nothing more satisfying when u first learn how to mix and get it matching, it’s literally feels magical and so much fun!! Respect for your tutorials bro 👊🏼

Hey Dj TLM, Thanks for this video series, I found this video particularly helpful. I actually had a colleague trying to explain the beat counts to me on saturday at a gig we were doing, but he had some trouble describing it properly, which unfortunately left me confused. This cleared everything up- it's amazing that even though I'm a drummer, for whatever reason, I would never have thought to look for the bars or measures in DJing. Most of what we do is 4 on the floor, so I just figured as long as it lined up it would work. This was super helpful, and will most definitely help me progress in my DJ ability and career. Thanks again!

Same here. I had to learn it by myself, but it did come naturally because it made sense to me. Only after I heard other DJ's do it wrong did I realize that that feeling doesn't come naturally to everyone.

djTLMtv a lot of dj's just overlook the most logical way of mixing one track to another with the timing of the track. A lot of dj's dont know or do not care to understand bars and phrases (timing) of tracks which spoils their performance. A large chunk of skill and creativity is lost because of that

Thanx TLM, your tutorials have been a huge help and I believe this particular tutorial may have helped me to figure out why in the hell my transitions are just not clicking. For me, getting the beat matching down was easy, but the transitioning between tracks was getting nowhere, it sounds whack most of the time. The hard part now will be timing the release of the cued up record at the right moment so there is no misalignment with the kicks. I haven't done much practice with that technique up to this point but I know now what my homework assignment will be this weekend. 🙂 I guess the next part will be learning how to EQ between tracks which I didn't realize was important until I watched your vids. Keep sharing the knowledge my friend, I can't thank you enough for that. Love and respect.

I still haven't mastered it yet, but I'm getting there only been doing it for a few weeks now, got a pioneer controller and serato, I'm trying not to do it via the software, i wanna learn it manually...... Its just like driving a car, when you first do it everything seems so hard and complicated trying to do 4 things at the same time (clutch. Accelerate, indicate, look in the mirrors, steer.. Etc) but once you practice, it becomes second nature and you won't have to think to much about it.... Thanks for the video bro, nuff respect from London!
