Beautiful tank and my experience with haps, peacocks and mbuna together has been similar!

Once again, thank you Kaity! Every time I watch one of your videos, I learn something. Matter of fact, I have watched several of them 2-3 times and still pick things up. We all can only strive to give our fish the best home possible and thanks to you, we are learning all the ways in which we can do just that.

Hi Kaity. A great tank. I started a 180ltr Cichlid tank some 12 months ago and slowly built up the tank with juvenile mbuna, Peacock, Haps, and ODs. All went well until the ODs, Peacocks and Haps started to grow. Also there were more males than females (lucky dip with juveniles) and the aggression started. This resulted in two fish kills that included the victims being blinded. The offender was put in my other 500 ltr Cichlid tank with larger fish and no more trouble with him. The 180 tank has settled down but every so often someone has a brain fade and becomes aggressive for a while. My 500 is another story. A very aggressive tank from time to time and a few kills. I think with Cichlids you have to be lucky with getting "tame ones". Challenging but great fish and worth the effort.

My African cichlids really enjoy the hikari sinking cichlids excel. Very beautiful cichlids tank you have⭐️ NEW SUB! #330🙂👍🏻

Your tank is beautiful. I agree keeping them together from young help tremendously. Currently running a 75 gallon with 8 Peacocks 8 Mbunas 2 Firemouths 1 Convict. All getting along. No breeding

why are they differentiated as haps when Mbunas are haplochromines as well? I found that initially quite confusing. Also, your tank is so beautiful.

I have 5 african cichlids in my 1.5ft tank and it’s so beautiful with my wrgb lighting and it is still not enough for me though they are about 3•5 inch to 4 inch

I have a similar setup with mbuna, peacocks & Haps. What do you feed them to meet their diet needs? as I know peacocks need high protein and mbuna tend to get gut bloat from high protein foods

I truly believe it all depends on the fish and sometimes you’ve gotta take some risks and let the fish decide.. Ik it may sound harsh but I also have many hiding places and a big enough space to get away or hide giving them a chance atleast. Am I cruel? I just think it’s the way it is idk

I would think you would still want to be careful with which mbuna you use. I have only used labs so far (yellow and white) due to their milder temperament. Which and mbuna do you have in your tank and have you had any that were too aggressive?
