I was so delighted to find this new video on KZfaq. It is wonderful and I am canceling working on Tim Holtz vintage valentines to have a go at this! I have an image in mind so I am all set! I shall use a book though as I have so much finished art stored in the two entertainment centers in my living room that I try to limit the size of what I am working on. I love the long sleeve shirt idea with either phrase. I work in my studio in my jammies so would not get much use out of an apron. However, we go out 3-4 days a week and I would wear the shirt then! I remain your devoted fan!

I love "go create, go play, go have fun"...makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside and out, like a happy duckling. For smudging I mostly use mah fingers, but for little nooks I took an old fabric paint brush (basically a small water color brush?) and cut the bristles down to a tiny puff ball. I still use spit though, I love that "I licked it so its mine" feeling. 🖤

You have inspired me to begin again on my altered books! Think about 4 will do to aid with drying time waits, lol!

So lovely....I loved watching this one go through all the phases....this is an awesome idea for creating the illusion of passing time with the cutout, the shadow and then the image in front (present). Would use this technique in my book for sure. Also I like the idea of adding your own DNA into the piece by spitting and smudging on the stabilo...:0 Gives it twice the energy! and the text "no problems" was a great label for this piece .

Hi Lori - my preference is "See you (or ya) on the table" on an apron rather than a t-shirt, unless it was a small logo on the upper left side maybe. You are the only person I have heard this from! :-) where as the 'go create, play, have fun' is everywhere in various forms. I think that 'See you on the Table' is more likely to invoke a response from others as they ask "What does that mean?" then we can give you a little free publicity. Just my opinion, it may be different in other countries - I am from England. Am loving your altered book videos. Thanks so much for sharing.

I love the idea of a t shirt or an apron. Think I would use apron more, but whatever works best for you. I agree with the other viewer, as the "See ya on the table" will create more interest from outside sources. But then you got me thinking about everything you say often, "TaaDaa", or "Don't forget the underpants". Guuurl, just to much to think about this early. Whatever you decide, I know I want at least one of them!! Keep up the fantastic work...now I need to get to the little studio and start playing myself! Thank you, thank you my Tootsie friend!

I just found your site - very nice work. Thanks for sharing. Just a tip with that fiskars jagged ruler if you ever want to try and get the pattern, you can slide a thin wet brush along the ruler on the paper, then tear. Cheers from Canada.

Underpants, really? OMG you crack me up! What a fantastic way of describing it. I am so like you and I am lost without my underpants! LOL You are so organised and methodical about your process that you made me feel right at home watching you create. TFS! I am now hunting for that Fiskar ruler, what perfect edges for that vintage worn out look. ha ha ha Spit and smudge, reminds me of the Air Cadets when we would spit and shine our boots.

I love the finished piece. I do find it hard to see all that beautiful background disappear. I know you can see peaks of it. I suppose once you start creating a lot it is something you get used to, especially when your confident you can recreate the look again.

A member of a Facebook Junk Journal group suggested I look for your videos when she mentioned altered books as a way for a beginner to get started quickly. I'm excited to learn about your process and techniques. I haven't heard the expression "underpants" before. It seems to mean a type of foundation. 😅

Lorrimarie you may already know this but i saw on another KZfaq video that you can use plastic wrap when you have a piece wet with mod podge or your trying to glue down a napkin.. the plastic wrap makes a nice barrier between you and the sticky mod podge and you can smooth out the wrinkles... worked pretty good when i tried it.. I hope i've explained it well enough.. :) Hugs! deb

I love your style and approach to creating! Where do you find your overalls? I am so long waisted it’s hard to find ones that fit. I love the slogan “Go Create’. My personal favorites are hoodies but I know they get pricey. Now I’ve got to go pick out underpants!

Apron; "See you (or ya) on the table", would be cool! But I do also like 'go create, play, have fun' . I'm not a t-shirt person and I would feel the need to wash it after every use, lol, unlike an apron-we expect those to get grungy from our artwork.

Could we possibly combine the two? “Go create, go play, go have fun! See you at the table!” Lorimarie Jenkins. I really like “see you at the table,” but it would be pretty obscure to anyone reading it and they might be wondering what I’m into without me realizing it. Whereas, if the “go create” is on there with it, people who know me will be,”oh, it’s one of Beth’s weird artist things.” And people who don’t know me will be, “ it says create so it must be one of those weird artist things.” And an artist will be, “ sounds like a cool artist thing so I’ll google that name.” What do you think? Did you ever get t-shirts or aprons made? I love this video. I am learning so much from you...the stabilo pencil is an awesome tool that I had never heard of.
