I’ve had so many questions about these (Face Halo specifically!), so I wanted to share my thoughts. Feel free to ask questions!

I was wondering is it ok to use something that is essentially made of plastic on the face? I've been thinking of using a microfibre cloth to help me exfoliate (rather than as a cleanser) but I always feel weird about using polyester on my face! I sometimes use a cotton face towel but I've been breaking out right after and wondering if it's too rough.

Susan Yara can you post something more specific about the first step of the double cleanse? I got the gist a little bit from your nighttime Walmart routine video. But I still feel a little confused on how to best use the oil. If you could show that in depth? And show using it with these tools like the face halo would be great!

I actually use the Face Halo Pro (the all-black face halo) with the Tatcha Cleansing Oil as the first step of my double cleanse. Love love love it. I only use my makeup wipes to remove makeup from my hands!

I will NEVER understand why people think these things (makeup wipes, these microfibre things, etc) remove everything but the simple concept of a cleansing oil (which removes 99% of makeup and sunscreen) eludes them. I just don't get it!!

I actually use the microfiber cloths as a "muslin" alternative to remove my oil based makeup cleansers or to take off face masks (especially charcoal ones, offers minimal mess!) I'll also put some mi cellar water on the rounds and use it that way if i'm in a hurry its a nice alternative to cotton rounds :)

I like to use my Makeup Eraser dripping/ soaking wet. I find this way it doesn’t tug at my skin at all, and removes makeup very well with just water. I wash it regularly like how I wash my towels. I love the idea of how it’s chemical free, sustainable, and saves money over time.

Susan, your skin is absolutely stunningly gorgeous without makeup and that’s why I’m a subscriber. That’s the goal! Also, I used a makeup wipe for the first time in forever the other day because I was short on time for an impromptu beach trip. It took 6 wipes and I felt like I still had a full face of makeup on. I seriously don’t know how people use them everyday. It did nothing and took forever. Double cleanse girl for life 🙋🏼‍♀️

Vivian West i highly recommend it! it’s really cool because as you’re working it into your skin you can feel your skin warm up and your makeup begin to melt off, it’s oddly satisfying haha. i definitely think it’s worth it if you follow it w your favorite face wash right after, your skin will begin to thank you slowly. doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped of your natural oils yet it gets rid of everyyyy last bit of makeup. really good double cleanser. makeup wipes tug and pull and tear at the skin-big no no

IDK about using these alone, without an oil--even then, it's like the makeup that is on the fibers will transfer back onto your skin. I would only use something like this on its own on a no makeup day to get the SPF off.

I love the Face Halo but only after I’ve used my cleansing balm or oil. Perfect for drunk or late nights. Most times, if I’m doing all of that, I go and wash my face 🤷🏽‍♀️ so for me it’s just an extra step. What I really love this for is when I’m doing a mask, this removes my mask perfectly while keeping the moisture in my skin, instead of rinsing the mask off completely. That’s my favorite way to use these type of products. I find that I’m using this ONLY to remove makeup, I’m doing a lot of tugging on my skin AND my face is all red. So it’s a NO for me! I do keep one in my car with a bottle of water though. You just never know. Sometimes I live on the wild side 😜

I wouldn't use these as stand alone makeup removers, but to assist double cleansing I definitely would. I know this wasn't an ad for Face Halo but in a weird way it kinda sold me. I think of it as a tool like the Clarisonic, as opposed to a skincare product, and with a balm it could operate like a 2 in 1 makeup remover and light physical exfoliator. Especially on those days I am wearing stubborn makeup. It'd be more efficient than just my hands. I also just think that having something like this on hand for travel or on the go, or even just an emergency back up after a really long night when you're too tired to go in with a fully fledged nighttime routine could come in so handy. Better than going to bed with a full face of makeup.

I have been using the face halo for a few years and I loveeeee it!! I try to be as gentle as possible and the makeup comes off completely!!! I have not found anything that removes my makeup as thoroughly as a face halo! I do go in with a face wash afterwards but even when I don’t and I go in with a toner, I don’t see any makeup coming off! For eye makeup I would suggest leaving it for 10 seconds on the eye and then wipe and it removes the eye makeup completely and I usually leave it more wet!

I’ve been using the makeup eraser for a while now. I never bought into the idea that you can use them with just water so I use them with my cleansing balm. I use my cleansing balm to melt down my makeup, wet my makeup eraser, and wipe off the oil from my face with it and move on to my second cleanse. It’s a lot gentler than a regular face towel so I have enough of them to last me a week until I do the laundry.

Face Halo is my absolute go-to makeup remover. I ensure it has been drenched in warm water and i follow up with another cleanser (for any residual as i follow k-routine of double cleansing anyways) and use soap to actually clean it. At least with this i don't feel guilty about wasting wipes and the impact it has environmentally so i def recommend.

I use a knockoff version of the Makeup Eraser and a small knockoff version of the Halo. The “halo” is for eye make removing if I wear glittery shadows. The “ME” I use for a first overall removal, before I go in with an oil or balm cleanser and then a gel cleanser. This removes SOME of the makeup first, so I don’t just spread a whole face of makeup around with the balm or oil. I would never count on these clothes to cleanse my skin alone. After that, I use another “ME” to dry my face. I toss each cloth onto the hamper (Ive dedicated for them, in my bathroom) and machine wash a load in hot water, once a week. So far, I’ve been doing ok... and my mild case of rosacea is not being triggered too much.

Also removing the makeup from Face Halo is actually quite difficult, they stained a lil after a few months (mine turns greyish now). it also feels harder (like the microfiber just gotten stiffer).

@@henriettesofiapetersen I feel you! I've tried a few oils recently that don't emulsify properly, and I have to wipe or scrub from my face. For me, it's a mark of a bad cleanser, so I avoid these ones. There shouldn't be any rough rubbing or scrubbing. Once the water mixes with the oil it should rinse off easily. Some great ones I've tried: all the Shu Uemura cleansing oils (though quite pricey), La Roche Possay cleansing oil, the Clean It Zero cleansing balm, and the Heimish cleansing balm (my personal favourite).

I used to have some Face Halos and I think they work great. Maybe it depends on how much makeup you are using but I had no issue getting 99% of my face makeup off. BUT for those very drunk, inebriated or just downright lazy times - I think these are way better than a makeup wipe

I use face halo and I love it! I use it to remove the bulk of my makeup before using an oil cleanser. I end up using less of my oil cleanser vs if I went in with just oil cleanser. agree that I have to be verrrrry conscious of how I'm using it though, it can be easy to tug on my face! also I prefer to hand wash the face halos every time after I use them! using cold process soap helps a lot (check out saaboon if you're in ottawa, otherwise you can buy them on etsy or local markets). dunno what it is about them but they clean my face halos and brushes like a dream!

I use Clinique Take the Day Off, but I just use my hands. I think I'm going to try the Halo! I don't really wear makeup that frequently, but I do wash my face every night.

I love using it with a cleanser and then I don’t have to do a double cleanse as most oils don’t work for me! I will say they also work better if they are super that’s probably why it doesn’t work that well for you as well. If it’s sopping wet you hardly have to touch your skin and it will come off!

I agree that these products should only be used to assist in makeup removing. I tend to do more artistic looks, including drawing on my entire face, and I like to use makeup eraser as an initial step to remove a bulk of my makeup and then I go in with an oil and do a cleanse. I've tried using only cleaners as well, but I have to end up washing my face multiple times if I feel I missed a spot, which really dries me out. So these have been wonderfully helpful!

I have the face halo but use it after I use the Hemish All Clean balm to melt my makeup. I tend to press harder just using water and don't think it's good for skin. It's great for travel too and usually at the end of the holiday I dispose of it which is more hygienic. Shelley x

I agree with you, that they have their place but a double cleanse if you're wearing spf and/or a full face of make up is the way forward. However, i have found my Face Halo is really useful for gym/swimming so no more taking more than i already need to get the chlorine/sweat etc off my skin. I DO wash mine in soap n water after each use and importantly dry them as well, and put them in the washing machine once a week. My reasoning is that anything that helps the environment is worth the hand wash at the end of every day and i am more than happy to do this is it helps the planet. Face Halo is made in Korea, which another skincare obsession of mine :D xox

I use reusable cotton pads for my mascara and when I use full face of makeup I use this, but not often. I use it to remove most of the makeup with water and or micellar water. It doesn't remove waterproof makeup so I first dissolve my mascara with oils then whipe off. BUT always I wash my face afterwards very well with a gel cleanser, a MUST

the makeup eraser has two sides, one that's supposed to remove makeup, and the other side is exfoliating, it has longer fibres.

I have the face halos and they don't get all my makeup off either. They also don't wash completely clean with soap after. I'll definitely use them with my cleanser from now on

Cleansing Oil or balm is where its at to remove makeup. Love the Shu Uemura porefinist and a warm wash cloth after - so gentle, easy and clean! I agree for assistance only - Face Halo and the others are good after an oil or balm cleanse

The creator of the Makeup Eraser (the pink actual named Makeup Eraser) is from my area and I remember meeting her at a car dealership of all places. She gave me one because my boss mentioned I had a KZfaq channel. I got it about a year before Graveyardgirl did her video on it and before it went into Sephora. She said it was a family secret. ;) I want to mention my job at the time was making and selling microfiber underclothing. One thing to keep in mind is not to wash any microfiber with cotton because you will get cotton fiber in your microfiber. Also I usually hand wash mine so they last longer - like other gentle clothing (bras especially). I do like them to help wash my face like a more gentle washcloth unless I'm in the shower (I'm a morning shower person). And yes, when I first tried the Makeup Eraser, I found it rough on my sensitive skin with just water. And no, I don't do KZfaq anymore.

I use something similar to the Face Halo to quickly clean my brushes if I want to swatch colours (I don’t own many brushes) or quickly clean makeup off the back of my hands as I either swatch, mix products or warm it up there first. Not exactly what it was intended for but it works for that

I use the Face Halo with charcoal-coconut soap and it's perfect. None of my cream or oil cleansers remove my eye makeup and that's where I need the most help because of fine wrinkles. I've tried several microfiber alternatives and non compare. It also washes quite well.

I've tried those several times, but everytime my skin got soooooo red, tomato red, even hot to the touch! (and stayed that way for about 2 days). Maybe that type of friction irritates too munch my skin.

That happened to me too! To remove my makeup I use a makeup removing balm. I recommend Clinique take the day off of balm or Pons balm 😊

I will try your recommendations! for a while I've been using Neutrogena oil free eye makeup remover (for waterproof makeup), then Garnier or Bioderma micellar water, and finish the cleans with Bioderma sensibio gel moussant

I use it with my cleanser. I use the cheapest ones. Softer than a wash cloth and cheap enough to throw them away after. I was amazed how they got waterproof mascara so much easier.
