The 2019 mix is trying to sound clean and modern, but part of what's great about a lot of classic recordings is the thick harmonic distortion which leaves some blur and some mystery. Your imagination fills in the details that are masked in the distortion. It's like looking at a painting vs a photograph.

That's a brilliant analogy. For a track like Come Together I prefer the original because it adds to the feeling and distortion of the track, whereas as with Something, I prefer the remix as it helps with the minimalistic sound, and highlights the separate parts better.

Abbey Road brings back memories of Christmas 1969 at my grandparents house...my aunt was a year younger than me and discovered The Beatles before I did. Thank goodness she turned me on to her newfound craze! It then became MY newfound craze! We listened to this album in the basement while the adults got "Christmas drunk" on "highballs" of scotch and ginger ale, we got drunk on every possible word The Beatles ever breathed up till that moment! I am pretty sure the first album I ever heard was "rubber soul". It was a mystical time.... I prefer the vinyl originals over ANY remastered version. George Martin was amazing at what he did.

I do find it disturbing that the Beatles are so readily available on KZfaq these days, but it's always someone's *version* of the Beatles and not the Beatles version. The tracks always sound different to what I remember. Why don't they upload the original? I haven't got the gear, haven't even got a working turntable at the moment, so I'm stuck with these almost versions. I like the fact one has a different perspective on the original recording, and some of the other takes are fascinating; but you'd think the original recordings would still hold some weight.

Having listened to the original over and over from a young age- when "ABBEY ROAD" was first released in the U.S., I am very conscientious of the different sound the re-mix delivers. Not worse, not better, just different. And of course, I prefer what I grew up on - the original vinyl. It just seems to have more "life" (?)! The remix offers a slightly different hearing experience which adds to the richness of the whole listening experience when you compare the two versions.

This one gives me a very hard choice to make: I don't dislike any of the mixes, but I find that the 1995 pressing has a lot more punch to its basses and highs, so I would prefer that one. Of the stereo albums, this one was the one that needed the remix less than the others, in my opinion, since it was made with stereo in mind from the beginning, unlike the rest, where it was an afterthought and/or made as stereo demos instead of a gratifying listening experience, and the mono represented what was meant to be heard. I think Sgt. Pepper and The White Album benefited more from the process, since the original stereos are very unbalanced and a chore to listen through headphones (in my opinion).

Esperar a ver.

@@IsraelQuezada999 Yo tengo ediciones mexicanas de "Rubber Soul", "Let It Be" y "The Beatles' Story". Debo ir a rescatarlo.

Do you understand that 95% of what’s pressed today is a digital transfer? You have to carefully read the label, if it doesn’t say analog master, then it’s digital. “Mastered from the original analog” doesn’t mean it’s analog. If you email the label, they might tell you.

So many people prefer the original here, but I'm certain it's mostly due to nostalgia sake. That's fine. But they try to write it off with some other explanation that never makes sense. I'll give you my take: The original has lots of harsh fighting with instrumentsl tracks in the center channel. It's always given me a headache. It feels very mashed together and makes most of it sound compressed together with everyone trying to be heard over everyone else. I've never liked this. The 2019 mix places everyone in places on the soundstage that actually properly uses it to the best potential, and in the process, the tracks are no longer fighting each other. Everyone sounds much clearer and you can actually hear their PERFORMANCE. It helps the performances shine so much better when everything is working together instead of mashed into small areas of the soundstage. 2019 mix all - the - way!

The 2019 remix is a crime. Notwithstanding the fact that we are listening on youtube the later remix sucks all the life out of the music and sounds thinner. This could be intepretted as being crisper and clearer but for example the small distortions on the vocal intro and the drums have weight and atmosphere which are lost in the later version.

Fade up Billy Preston's electric piano on one channel and John's guitar in the other at equal volume in the first part of the guitar solo before George starts his. I'd completely fade out John's babbling and moaning noises whenever they show up on the multi tracks. (8 to be precise)
