A twin turbo V6 will likely not fit under the hood of a Tacoma. The new Tacoma will have a turbocharged four cylinder which will make more power and torque than the current V6 with a better power curve. The current engine doesn’t lack power as much as you have to wind the engine out to get to the meat of the power! Turbocharged engines make peak torque at lower RPMs. The Tundra makes peak torque at 2400 RPM which is great for towing. Nice truck! You should use a weight distribution, sway control hitch to tow that trailer.

Appreciate the vid; original YT . Modern Tech Turbo's are amazing. I tow a TT dry weight 5287 Lbs our full payload including passengers 6040lbs; I'm towing with a 2020 GMC 1500 Elevation 2.7L Turbo In-line 4cyc. I capture @ 62-64 mph 10.2-10.5; I have gotten 12 mpg's yet that's not the norm. Love the Low End Torque which helps with fuel on climbs and motor is not dropping gears. As an everyday driver I'm getting 18 mpg's driving modestly. Test drove yesterday the Tundra; my lease is up in 2 mths. I may consider the Tundra the HP's are incredible considering the great mpg's your truck gets. I notice on the test drive the nimble feel as my truck and that's important for me; more so in city driving. We camp out allot and we travel up the North East plenty. Our mountains are small in comparison to the West. Yet their tight and steep. This is where the Turbo is a champ!

And try to get the Tundra with Digital dashboard so you can check the Transmission temperature, most of truck buyers only care how much can tow but no to many people paid attention to the Transmission temperature and get a truck with external Transmission cooler.

@@mixflip That's what I meant. My gauges show off, but as long as I have defrost or feet vent option on, the air conditioning is on. I remember long time ago that the compressor for the AC comes on if you have defrost or feet or any dash combo with defrost feet. I think the AC comes on in those settings to remove the humidity in cold climates. Not sure if it's related to the Tundra or not though. That twin turbo V6 is no joke. The Ford Transit with the twin turbo blows away my Sprinter Van (The horsepower and torque numbers don't lie).

Did u leave the ac control on max? If u move it out of max mode, it should shut off your ac and let fresh air in, as long as you also have the vent control out of recirculate mode. This is how it is for my Tacoma at least. 🤔

Great video on the towing capabilities of the Toyota Tundra!!! Maybe the review of the year. What do you think is the off-road capabilities of this truck compared to the Ford F-150 Tremor. I heard; airbags could be added to the Tremor without voiding the warranty. At least give your option on the off-road capabilities; if you cannot compare the F-150. Great job
@mixflip

off the showroom floor these new tundras can only do light offroading. They dont have off road tires and the ground clearance isnt good at all. They come with street tires and even have a new air dam that fold down for aerodynamics on the road. This doesnt work well off road. These truck also have very low bumpers front and rear. Of course you can fix all of this with money and time lol. Guys are already putting lift kits which helps. Or bigger tires which helps. Or removing the bumpers which helps...or all 3 which completely changes the truck all together making them great off road. It just costs money and time. The TRD Pro might be a little better off road but it still suffers from the bumper issue and no winch options.

good info in this vid. a step can be welded or bolted onto the bumper. @55mph+ those added mirrors will cost you at least 2mpg, from aero resistance and resulting turbulence. nowadays, with sufficient cameras, tow mirrors are becoming obsolete. Toyota has the best engine: DPI not GDI. the only question is, how durable are the 2 turbos? will they bust at 100k miles? likely an uber expensive repair when they do. historically, I have found Toyota seats and cab to be the worst for tall people: the only con to Toyota.
@motofunk1

@robgrune3284
@robgrune3284 8 ай бұрын
@@motofunk1 thanks for this info, but Toyota seats remain the worst. imo Nissan has the best seats, but the Titan is no more. a pity. Toyota turbos are good for getting groceries, but a no-turbo engine lasts longer. when hauling, a turbo 6 will consume fuel equal to a V8.
@motofunk1
@motofunk1 8 ай бұрын
@@robgrune3284 We see things through a similar lens.... I have a 2002 Silverado 2500HD 8.1 and the Allison with 279k on it that I bought new. Those seats are excellent and set the standard. I have toy hauler from that same year. Loaded it has varied between 7500 and 8500 lbs over the years. My Silverado averages 10 mpg towing it. I test drove both the Tundra Capstone and F150 Powerboost towing this same trailer and got 9 mpg in both. The F150 felt just a bit stronger than the 8.1 when new and the Tundra just a bit weaker than the 8.1 when new. The Powerboost uses the hybrid well to fill in the low end. The Tundra stays off the electric motor except under full power requests, but with such a small battery that extra boost is limited time wise.

Very nice informative video. I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra Crewmax TRD 4x4 limited with the 5.7L V8 and I love it! It’s crazy hearing you say that this -V6 Twin Turbo out performs the last generation V8, Power, Performance, new 10 speed transmission and so forth! I’m really starting to like this new model. I just feel that my V8 with 4:30 gears would tow better if I throw in a supercharger on it and some airbags, but I could be wrong… anyways great video and great looking truck! I’m gonna have to test drive one of these trucks!

Great review, does not apply completely to Toyota Canadian variants. However, how could you miss mentioning tow hooks as a negative?! The front bumper as it is sits will most likely cause damage with towing , let alone getting out of a front ward, downward angel! THERE ARE NO TOW HOOKS. Oh, but if the truck was in that position, .,...oh! my mistake, there are no toe hooks on the back either! This a very disappointing aspect along with a bed step as you have already covered ( I can say this as I own a 2023 Tundra .But great so far after 13000 km in four months)!
@mixflip

This video was about the towing experience so I didnt talk about front tow hooks because here in America we dont use the front tow hooks for towing a trailer in the rear??? I made an entire video talking about all the things I hate about my truck and tow hooks was on the list. As for tow hooks on the back? Im guessing you mean for off road recovery. In this video I was refereeing to just on road towing with a trailer so rear tow hooks for recovery arent used. I will be doing some off roading this year so when I get that experience and data I will mention those issues. I do plan on upgrading the bumpers so I can ad a winch and tow hooks for recovery.

Great video explaining so much experience with towing. Thanks! So, I'm getting ready to tow a new/used travel trailer, about 5700lbs, with my new '23 Tundra Limited. It has the tow package. Do you have to do anything with Toyota's "sway control" or does it monitor sway automatically? My new trailer included a weight distribution hitch (previous owner provided), but I don't believe I'll need it with the Tundra's air suspension and "sway control". Is that true?
@mixflip

If I remember right once you plug in the 7 pin connector the on board computer will walk you through questions like the weight of the trailer and what brakes it has. It will then change the shift points in the tranny and make auto adjustments while driving to control the load. Mine towed very well. My confidence was high even though I never towed with the truck before.
