the problem with decapitator is that the different models all saturate at different levels and that the gain compensation is total bollocks. i really dont get why this isnt being fixed. and i disagree about the level differences being not important. how often have i fooled myself BELIEVING a signal sounded better when it was just a tiny level increase. there are plugins (HOFA, free) which analyze the percieved loudness - what a discovery. of course we treat signals to make them sound "different" or "better" but the level totally works on that, so you need to listen (percieved) level matched. i mean you don´t but to really know what you´re doing you should)
