I bred Blue Dream with Black Rilis. The variety of shades & patterns I got are unreal. Started with 4 of each. Now have hundreds.

i bought some blue shrimp from a petstore and got some black ones with them, i noticed a blue female carrying eggs and also moved the 2 black ones i found to another tank. the babies hatched and i think i noticed some babies look almost black and some are blue. idk how the mix looks when their grown but i cant wait! i have them in a 3 gal right now with a 20 gal cycling!

I started with 5 shrimp last year, 2 reds, 2 almost transparant and 1 blue. Fortunately one of them was a female and now I have over a hundred shrimp in all kinds of colors and shades. No green or purple ones however. One big happy shrimp family!

I loved your video! I recently got into neocaridina shrimp - I started with a skittles tank - then decided I wanted a blue dream tank. All of the different colors in the skittles tank did interbreed and I've gotten some new varieties. I really love seeing the brown spotted, the totally clear wild colors and I've gotten a variety of new colors and mixes - like a blue jelly mated with a red cherry and I got red rali-blue jellies - red head and tail with clear blue body out of the whole clutch I got 5 of them - which is fun! Now my blue dream tank is going nuts I'm constantly seeing females filled with eggs. So today I decided that I have 5 pregnant females and one of them is fairly pale or lighter than the others - so I caught her and put her in the skittles tank. I'm excited to what happens when a good size population of blue dream mates with all of the other color mixes I have. I'm not a breeder - I'm having fun watching them do their thing. I'm so sorry that some people are mean and rude and can't appreciate your wanting to try new things and wait and see what happens. That's too bad for them. Their loss. We need to be interested in other peoples ideas in order to learn or understand anything. As for you - you are good!

I have a skittles tank of neocardinea shrimp. I currently have orange sakura, blue dream, blue velvet, red rili, amono, Bloody Mary, and fire red in my tank. I just placed an order for some carbon rili, sky blue velvet, and black diamond shrimp and I can't wait to get them so I can add them to my tank with the rest of the shimpers. I am interested in what type of shrimp that will be born from this skittles colony. And I am like you, I don't want to breed a pure line of shrimp because I don't want to have my shrimp be the equivalent to the Spanish Hapsburgs family tree. Also, my skittles tank is for my own personal enjoyment. If I get too many babies then the pet shop said that they would take some.

Hi thanks for the video! I have a tank going with 12 or so mixed blues, and 10 or more black rose. Started the tank Dec 1, and am already seeing two different size babies 8 days later. Excited to see the outcome. I may add some blue or red rilli next...

I think it's very wise of you to mix genetics to get hardier shrimp. A lot of shrimp keepers seem more concerned with having perfect colors and disregard the possible negative effects of inbreeding.

I have 10 fire reds with 1 blue dream, as well as 10 yellow sakuras in a tank. I would love to see some rilis (especially the blue). Came to this video cause all I heard was the negatives, but honestly I like the mixed colours! I have a few carrying eggs and caught a yellow and red mating today. Hopefully I get something cool, they are all homed with a wild betta who is SUPER peaceful.

i like the idea, i started off with Skittles and building them up from there, starting off coloured tanks (single coloured tanks) again now. its tough... lots of wild, but it will be worthwhile i think long term

I started with a pair each of red, yellow and blue shrimps ( don't know the specific name, but definitely neocaridinas) , now I have atleast 80 shrimps with different hues and colours, I have to say that a 30 % go brown in colour and it increases with each generation, but I add pure colours once in a while and again the no of brown ones decrease and good coloured shrimps increase. I have this one shrimp which has all shades mix, I don't know how but it has brown, black, yellow, red and a dark blue colour

I think I've missed this video and I just found it when I did a key words research 'mixing shrimps' This video doing very well and I've noticed that people quite like this topic. I think you need to do an update on this in the near feature. You might remember that I have blue dreams neos as well I was trying to sell them for the last 4 weeks and I haven't sold even a single shrimp, so quiet here. I probably gonna mix them with caridinas would be a good topic for a new video I hope.

I though the color selection in nature happens due to predator's feeding on colors that are not camouflaged. Like red and blues would be easily spotted in the wild while transparent and dark colors will survive. This will cause the transparent and dark colors to survive and breed producing more of the same color. Hence it confused me on how it happened in captivity in tanks with no predators. My assumption was all colors will breed equally and produce variations, but whatever I found on the internet clearly stated that just keeping different colors will produce wild types.

What will be the result if I cross sun-skict orange shrimp and Bloody Mary shrimp

I say if you aren’t harming them, which you clearly aren’t. Then why not try? Could you make it all black? Idk maybe. Maybe even brown. But I’ve got reds and blues together and I love the shit out of them.

Do you mind a quick question? What are your thoughts on a first shrimp tank? Caridinas or Neocaridinas? I'm not afraid of the water chemistry, per se, but I might be able to get away with treated and aged tap water with Neocaridinas, waiting on water testing kits. But I do like the variety available with Caridina. Looks like I'll start with an 11 gallon tank, I don't have a lot of room. ❓❓

No, you're not strengthening genetics. You're doing the exact opposite. You're diverting already strong genetics. It gonna take many generations to make strong genetics again and you'll end up with something that already exists. It's fun to mix rillis with pure color Sakura though. Rillis are the transition phase generation so they make interesting results with the pure saturated color genetics

Lol that's not how genetics work .your talking more about brothers an sisters breeding witch happens as well.when it's more along the lines of someone that's a different skin color breeding.its not gonna make them any more hardy then any would over time an getting use to YOUR parameters.also for a little time yes you will have different colors.but if you let it go the will all eventually be clear with browl lines or brown... Kinda like if all races interbreed one day will all be the same skin color.
