Colour mixing is probably one of my favourite things to do. However, it does take some practice and knowledge of colour theory. In this series I will be highlighting different colours and how to mix different shades of them. For this I will be using a limited palette of 8 student grade watercolour from Winsor & Newton:

I have experimented with color theory and becoming more comfortable with it. HOWEVER, I love watching you make colors with your spin on it. AND, I love how you put it into practice in this video. You are such a natural teacher. Well thought out video. Thank you Emma!

How cool, my daughter and I are painting together, and have been talking about starting a limited pallet for just mixing. This is is such perfect timing for us to follow these videos to at least get started and see where we go from there. Right now we both have extensive pallets 😂🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️. I LOVE COLOR THERORY!!! SO EXCITED FOR THIS SERIES! I have been an Art Student/Artist since I was in the 7th grade. I was a Hair Colorist for 20 years. (I am now 55) So I have had a lot of color theory classes in my life. I never tire of it. I don't even own a purple in my pallet. I have French ultramarine (warm blue) and phthalo blue green shade(cool blue). I then mix it with any quinecrodone red shades. I use quin. Rose, and Quin. Magenta the most. I also use pyrol scarlet red shade to add to the blues. I do use light tourquois, hookers green and sap green to mute or gray out my purples also. I think I will add a purple shade to my pallet.

i know it's kind of late to be picking up this series, i was in'nóut of hospital when you first posted them...wow i have really learnt alot with the two i've watched so far...i love that your working with a limited palette, i've got a split primary with others added in and i haven't even used them much but i really like how you can get some wow and unique colours, i think i'll start with the colour mixing then the beautiful flowers, thank you so much for the time and thought gone into this/these series absolutely invaluable x

Thank you for showing how vibrant the Cotman colors can be. I have the pans but I think tubes are probably the better way to go. I am also amazed at the mixes especially ones using a color, such as Hookers Green, that is already made of three pigments. Everyone discourages mixing these and to only use single pigment colors.

I only have the Gencrafts paint palette so budget wise I'll have to kind of play and work it out myself as there are none of your colors in it. But I can get some of the ideas. Tfs
