I grew up playing piano/keyboards. What Miyako has done here is epic. If you never heard of this song before, you would think this is a classical piece. Yet to us metalheads, it's metal done classically....still metal. She owns the piano with mood, volume, speed, emotion, etc etc. Keith Emerson was my favorite musician for decades (my favroite pure keyboardist). Since I found Lovebites, Miyako quickly took over that spot as my favorite musician.

It's a very, very beautiful piano interpretation and arrangement of a classic metal song by our musical genius

Another great reaction Marquis. With your love of piano I knew this one would get you. I'm not a pianist, but my wife IS (plays Liszt and Rachmaninov), so being a musician myself it has helped me pick out things that I wouldn't have noticed before. Gotta run to more Reactions to this and leave Views, Likes, and Comments to support our Princess Miyako. Thanks a LOT for doing the same. (Not totally selfless though, because you DID get to listen to this yourself in the process 😉)

Her piano album is due out 6/21. Here she took the core and reworked the song into a classical piece. She gets a chance to do the same to Gary Moore, Deep Purple, Metallica etc. Also she is doing piano recitals in Japan later this year. I guess practicing with Midori, playing with LB, arranging and composing songs for LB and practicing piano isn't enough to keep her genius brain busy LOL.

Miyako said that she will "practice the piano until I die". She also said about her Yamaha baby grand that "it is her best buddy" and that it "made her who she is". I detected some baroque influences but mostly C19th romantic influences in her interpretation of "Eagle Fly Free:

Definitely a few Baroque accents, but yes, those big Romantic flourishes and even some 20thC touches. She weaves it all together, which is really the crazy part.

@@hiawatha.g Yes, I meant to mention some early C20th dissonance, touch of Camille Saint-Saëns maybe, who bridged the Romantic and `Modern eras. Can't wait to hear the other five interpretations.

You have to be a genius to dare such a thing, but as Miyako is an absolute genius here is what it gives. I really think that this young woman is a musical genius of our time with, in addition, I believe, a lot of humility.Bravo! I'm a very old gentleman who's seen a lot in music, but I've never been filled with admiration for anyone like I am for Miyako.

How many musical artists have the guts to make a piano cover of a well known, and beautiful, metal song like “Eagle Fly Free”? I think not many, and Miyako is, for sure, one of them.

Since you loved Miyako's piano version of this metal song, I've got to ask you if you are already familiar with the channels of vkgoeswild and Gamazda? I didn't know about them until a week ago when I watched a live piano rendition of "Master of Puppets" by the former which someone had requested in a livestream of another reactor and which I found amazing. When looking for other piano covers of "Master of Puppets", I found Gamazda's version, which sounded a bit less aggressive (it was also 7 1/2 minutes instead of 6 minutes long) and the arrangement was also different, but it's also very impressive. Also the versions of Metallica's "Fade to Black" by both of them are highly recommendable: Gamazda's version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbl6l7Z1tNu6omQ.html vkgoeswild's (second) version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z6x4abGEtd_OYWw.html Even if you don't plan to do any reactions to them, listen to them for yourself! If you also like it wild, try vkgoeswild's versions on Metallica's "Fight Fire With Fire" (one of their most aggressive Thrash Metal songs) and her live in Zurich version of "Corporal Jigsaw Quandary" by Carcass (possibly the most extreme Metal song she has covered yet), in which she even broke a piano-string (not the piano, though, as the title suggests) in the middle of the song: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fdlkjdx22tGWdo0.html

You obviously enjoyed this piece! Even though I usually tend to prefer music with vocals, I have got to say that I think Miyako did an excellent job here. I really like this version very much and I'm very curious how the other five pieces on her upcoming EP will sound. It's a bit like reverse Mekong Delta, because while Mekong Delta have turned several classical pieces into metal versions, the first one being Mussorgsky's "The Hut of Baba Yaga" on their debut album, Miyako has gone the opposite way by turning Metal songs into classical piano pieces. Since you mentioned that you do love piano, I wonder if you have ever heard of/anything by the Norwegian piano-player/composer/author Ketil Bjørnstad? If you are curious, I'd recommend the title track of his album "Grace" (released in 2001): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iMlllZClqrPXmac.html IMO, it's an absolutely beautiful instrumental piece. It's played by an entire band, but I think there is still enough piano for you to enjoy! (No need to do reaction, unless you'd like to be a pioneer, since it seems no-one has done a reaction to any of Ketil Bjørnstad's songs so far. If you should listen to it just on your own, you could perhaps let me know what you thought of it by replying to this comment.)

"The River" is another great album by Ketil Bjørnstad with David Darling.
@MissLoonasSpeech
@MissLoonasSpeech Жыл бұрын
@@One808 It's a purely instrumental album, isn't it? I'd say that some of my favourite albums for which he composed the music are ones which were released under the names of the artists singing on them. My overall favourite in this regard is "Løsrivelse" by my favourite Norwegian non-metal singer Kari Bremnes. What makes this album extra-special IMO is the fact that the lyrics are poems in prose written by the famous painter Edvard Munch, based on which he did some of his most famous paintings. These paintings are also printed in the CD-booklet together with the lyrics they are based on. About 100 years later, Ketil Bjørnstad wrote music to these lyrics. The most outstanding song on this album is probably "Skrik" (the German title of the painting the lyrics refer to is "Der Schrei"). Ketil Bjørnstad also did another album based on texts of Edvard Munch, titled "Sunrise", featuring the Oslo Chamber Choir and on four songs - once again - Kari Bremnes as solo vocalist. Ketil Bjørnstad is very good at writing music to other people's poems. @Marquis de Music (if you should read this): Only after recommending the song "Grace", I noticed it is published by UMG, and I read on another reaction channel that UMG has a tendency to block reactions. Don't know if they do it always, but just in case you might have considered doing a reaction to that song, be aware there is at least a certain risk it might get blocked.
