The A30 would be great if it had the guts of the 28XX

Completely agree with all thr points you mentioned. I'd also like to add that most of these devices don't seem to have a hole for a strap. I wouldn't want to drop any of these things.

For the 28xx, find the quick power option. Then it works like the miyoo, where it saves the state and shuts down, then auto loads when you turn it back on.

Picked up the 28XX yesterday, best handheld I’ve owned so far. However I do prefer the look and layout of the A30

A retroid pocket 2S is best for n64, ps1 and dreamcast games. good buttons, good shoulder triggers, analog sticks, good small screen and small enough to fit in your pocket.

I went through your points and in the end I'm still thinking about getting the Miyoo A30. For a silly unreasonnable reason: I simply crave the Game Boy Micro 20th anniversary's design and colors. And I don't really plan to play anything other than GBA with this device. Maybe I'll wait for a gen 2

Great review! Your method is good and I agreed with just about everything and the scores were fair. For me my #1 deciding factor are controls. I just can’t imagine wanting to play a side scroller or a fighter on something with shoddy controls. I also hate loud buttons, for me to accept overly obnoxious button noise it had better play so perfectly I feel I’m piloting a ship.

The 28xx is only partially USB-C to USB-C PD compliant. It will charge using a PD charger and a cable that's rated 60W or lower, however if you use a PD charger and a cable that is rated 100W or greater with a e-marker chip, it will not charge. I would also say on your rating system, you really should make it truly objective and have measurable metrics. For example, your description for a good screen included size, a device this small will never have a 7" screen. You could rather measure things like brightness, color gamut, etc and truly make these categories objective. The 28xx has a far superior battery, really not sure how yours is coming up even against the A30. Lastly, N64 is much harder to emulate than PS1. PS1 should be 100% playable on both the A30 and 28xx with proper configuration. The 28xx does perform better above PS1 however. Again, there are ways to make performance truly objective with specific game test or synthetic benchmarks

Miyoo fanboy, love my miyoo mini plus, but i pass on the A30. I'm fine with my retroid pocket 3+.

I like your video and review style, but you kinda lost me at “battery life is the same between these two” 😅 otherwise I felt like your comparison was pretty fair.

A30 is better for me

I appreciate your review, but better to use more each handheld that u want to review. Battery on rg28xx is better than a30, a30 is hotter when play ps1 or higher, rg28xx have feature to off(quick save) and on(quick load) just like miyoo mini, u just need to turn that feature on. What is the poin of your max poin? U compare 2 little handheld, why need scale poin up to either of them can play switch game or not, can dock up to 1080 or not. Better to choose which handheld that win on that part, it make more reasonable, u can give your opinion why they win and it not out of context the specification of the handheld.

I’m pretty sure most the issues you listed for the A30 have been fixed with a software update. Oddly they were shipped with different software versions

I would not recommend either of those. They’re way too small. I recommend the rg35xxh

Why would anyone want these for hand consoles when Nintendo switch is by far the best handheld console ever created also with the Nintendo switch next gen coming 2024 or 25 it's a no brainer.
