The regular Wave Runner 25 has a good outsole for dirt trails, and wet and muddy conditions. It's not that different than the Puma Grip outsole that you find in the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 or Velocity Nitro 2.

So I absolutely love my Wave Runner 23s, and was thinking of getting a pair of these as I stick mostly to road but occasionally do some wooded trail/crushed gravel path running on my routes. I'd say I'm 85% road, 15% off. I'm just getting back to running after a few years off (currently between 5:30-6min pace depending on distance), I've run halfs previously (4:50/km pace) and don't anticipate running more than one half marathon distance this season if I even get that far. Any thoughts on whether these shoes may suit my needs? Another consideration is I'm in Canada and I would little benefit from a little extra grip for winter running with a little bit of snow and ice on the road sides to navigate. Thanks!

The blunter, much less sharp "lugs"/pattern of the outsole of these shoes, wear MUCH better on asphalt and concrete, than the sharper ones on trail specific shoes. Even more so, if the asphalt sections are where you tend to pick up the pace. Faster pace on pavement, very quickly sands down and rounds the sharp edged lugs that trail specific shoes depend on for their grip. My trail specific shoes easily retain their cleat like grip on loose terrain three, or more, times as many miles, once relieved of being pressed into service on dual surface runs.
