I would like to add a little clarity to your naming of this particular model you have chap... The latest MJX Hyper Go H14BM is an exclusive Amazon commissioned model.. The one you have is a MJX Hyper Go 14210 v2 (the same as me). The 3 differences between the models are as follows, the H14 has a different livery on the black shell. The H14 has a slow mode that it is shipped in that you unlock with 5 presses of the ESC. To make it as fast as a 14210 v2 (both ESC's are 45 A) The H14 has both front and rear chunky telescopic CVD's, the 14210 v2 as you know, only has the chunks on the rear.. So the only differences to care about are the newer upgraded front driveshafts., which I fitted to my car today... I'm Keirh a moderator in a MJX Hyper Go Group. Thanks for reading.

@@cheggers1973 Yeah that's kind of what I figured. I've run a lot of these smaller vehicles in the past and based on my experience and the weight of the vehicle the CVDs seemed plenty chunky enough and to be honest with you universals, while inherently larger aren't inherently stronger. Like you said they're only as strong as their weakest link and if their weakest link is the same it's more of a marketing thing than an actual advantage. Have you checked out a Grom yet?

I really like comparing these two. I’d probably go for the Mjx. I have the 14301 mini infraction and love it. This one looks like a buff cousin. The grom looks good but the price is just a tad much for a 1/18 brushed. As far as parts availability I have a hard time relating to most comments that talk about the annoyance of waiting 2 weeks or whatever for parts. I personally use that time to focus on another car. Thanks for the thought provoking comparison

The Grom is awesome. Me personally, I bought it to zoom around the basement while it’s too cold to drive the bigger car’s outside now. I don’t mind that it’s brushed. It’s pretty zippy, actually jumps pretty good, and does backflips off the wall all day. And this car is durable! I constructed an obstacle course in the basement with portions that are 2-3 feet off the ground. The Grom fell and hit the concrete floor more times than I could count and I broke nothing. I’ve even had a few cartwheel crashes off the little ramp I built and again, even though a few times I cringed, nothing broke. Buy one, you will NOT be disappointed.

You've had better luck with yours than I did with mine. First jump I ripped a screw out of the steering block and lost the pivot ball off the lower A-arm. Fixed it and when back the next day. Broke off the wheelie bar and then the fatal hit was a bad landing on the rear right wheel and it broke the wheel off at the hub. Aside from the first jump that was just as high as the ones you were doing here, all other breakages happened off massive jumps and I can't really expect such a cheap car to deal with the constant abuse I put it through without something failing, so I'm not gonna take points off for that. However, you're bang on about the handing. LoL. It's fun for the first couple of minutes because it has so much power, but then you realise just how hard this thing is to drive at speed. Haha. Fun car, good price and great value, BUT could definitely use some refinement in all those loose joints. Awesome video once again and love the editing and dialog. 👏👏 Also, the durability montage (ala Jang from Ultimate RC) was quite nostalgic. 😁
@DoRC
@DoRC 9 ай бұрын
Yeah it's a fun little car but personally I think the novelty wears off pretty quickly. I've driven a lot of cars and ones that don't handle well just start to grate on me after a few minutes. Trying to hit a 2 ft wide ramp at 30 mph with a car that really doesn't want to go straight is annoying. I think the jumps I did were pretty representative of what most people will do and it held up well to those but you know how it goes. Some people can have a car and never have it break and other people can break it every single time they take it out. I'd say it's reasonably durable. That being said the Grom really sets a new bar for what a small RC car should be and at least in my experience so far nothing else matches it. I do wish Arrma had made it a little bit bigger and brushless. I'm sure they'll be bringing more options out in the future. Looking at the upgrades they Will have available for the Grom I'm expecting an EXB version eventually. Thanks for watching!

This 14210 seems good for starting with RC but it looks very hard to control, is there a way to increase this by changing some parts like the paddle wheels? Or is the 14209 more recommendable to have something that can run in every type of terrains and do not flip every 30 seconds?
@DoRC
@DoRC Ай бұрын
Unfortunately the difficulty in handling is primarily due to the pretty loose tolerances in everything related to the suspension and steering. At lower speeds it's not bad but at higher speeds it's definitely noticeable and whereas you might be able to fix some of it with aftermarket aluminum parts It kind of is a fundamental issue. I suspect the 14209 will be similar. Also all of these cars are going to be pretty squirrely in anything but the smoothest of terrain just because of how small they are. For starting out in the hobby I would honestly recommend getting something a bit bigger like a 1/10 scale. You're going to pay more for it but you're going to have a lot better time

Maybe though the slop comes from the knuckles, bearings, stub axles, tie rod ends, and entire steering rack. So it would be a pretty extensive upgrade. I also grew up with Phillips but hex is far superior. It's not just about the type of screw though. Like I said in the video it's the amount of screws and amount of different types of screws You do get extras with the hyper go but you also pay more. I don't think the Grom needs to be on 3s so it's really just the motor and ESC that needs to be upgraded. Ultimately though it's a personal choice. The hyoer go is definitely a fun car!

Mine's proven to be pretty durable but handling is definitely a problem. This thing has way too much power and not enough refinement. It's fun but it's also frustrating sometimes. You might be able to put the electronics in the Grom but I'd recommend the combination that I showed in my brushless Grom video. It works really well and isn't terribly expensive. I don't really feel that way. The thing is that what I said about This hyper go applies to pretty much all other small RC cars. They all have a lot of the same limitations where they're not built to very precise standards and their difficult to work on. The team associated 14MT is a step up in quality but it's still kind of a pain to work on. I've owned pretty much every small car out there and to me the Grom stands alone and raises the bar on what a small car can be. It definitely has its limitations but I'm willing to overlook them for good handling good warranty good parts support and ease of repair.

the comparison is not really fair the arrma is compared with a Traxxas latrax teton 1/18 brushed, losi mini t 1/18, a redcat volcano 16, on the Chinese rc it is compared with the hbx 1/18 brushed or brushless, perhaps with the 16889, even at this moment on Amazon, there is a very similar truck for 89 dollars (hypergo copy) brushed motor but according to videos it is misleading advertising since they do not have a fan or oil suspension, you cannot compare a brushed motor with one without brushes, and less at those scales, it would be fairer to compare the 1/14 with the team associated 1/14, one thing is speed, another is duration and ease of getting spare parts
@DoRC
@DoRC 9 ай бұрын
Whereas I understand your point of view I did explain in the video why I was making the comparison. Even though the Arrma is smaller It's superior build quality means it's able to handle rough terrain at least as well as the larger hyper go. I also mentioned in the video that I think the Grom should be upgraded to brushless in order to be the most fun and once upgraded to brushless it specs speed and cost are fairly similar. The Grom is smaller but because of how well it handles I think it's fair to compare to cars that are larger. It handles and bashes like a larger car. Also this is a fairly new release from hypergo and the Grom is a fairly new release from Arrma. People looking at one may very well be looking at the other even though they aren't exactly the same size. Thanks for watching!

How do the 14210 and the 16889A Pro compare?
@DoRC
@DoRC 9 ай бұрын
14210 is a fair amount larger and a bit more powerful but other than that I would say they're pretty similar. They're both built to about the same standards and have about the same frustrations with repair and maintenance. Neither one of them are bad and I have recommended the 16889 pro to many people and it was my primary small basher for quite some time. As long as you're aware of those limitations I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one of them.

I've been a professional mechanic for over 20 years and I have been working on RC cars for about the same amount of time. I have removed tens of thousands of screws in that time period. I very rarely strip out a screw. That screw strip because the head of the screw is very soft not because of my technique. Off camera I also tried to remove the screw by hand with a slotted screwdriver. The slot also stripped out. The difference between the two ESCs is not that one of them has a higher speed mode It's that one of them comes out of the box with the full power potential locked out. The one I have simply doesn't have that lock out from the factory. The only component that is different between the two is that the HB 14M has the same universals in the front as in the rear. Other than that they are mechanically identical. Thanks for watching :-)

I did read the instructions and I did do that process. The speed I got was with the ESC unlocked. Offroad speed is always going to be a little bit slower than on road speed simply because there's more friction and more bumps which makes it harder to get an absolute top speed. That being said I like to do my top speeds off-road when possible because that's for these cars are really going to be used. 40 miles an hour is plenty fast enough off-road for a car that handles this poorly.
